January 28 - February 3, 2024

Good morning, Cannon families,

Please help me congratulate Stefani Donaldson, one of our Cannon third grade teachers for being named a GCISD STAR! Congratulations to the first Star of GCISD in 2024, Stefani Donaldson at Cannon Elementary. Stefani teaches third grade and was nominated for being an “unyielding light for all others at Cannon and in GCISD. She goes out of her way to make sure that the new teachers on, not only her own team, but also across the school are supported and set up for success.” Thank you, Stefani, and congratulations!

Please make sure your scholar arrives on time each morning prepared with their charged iPad or Chromebook. EVERY DAY COUNTS! As a reminder staff is available at 7:20 and doors open at 7:25. Scholars are late after 7:40 and breakfast is no longer available. Also, 👟please remember to send students in sneakers - especially on PE days!

Proud to be your principal,

Dr. Tina Garrett

Cannon Elementary Kids Heart Challenge's Update!

Kids Heart Challenge at Cannon Elementary is nearing its end, but there's still time to reach our goal! We've raised $6,191 donations towards our $9,000 goal, and we hope all students will join the team! So far, 96 students have already joined, and 13 students have completed Finn’s Mission, entering them into the NFL Sweepstakes for Super Bowl 2025 tickets!

Have you reached your Kids Heart challenge goal?
One last week to sign up, donate, or get a donation and complete Finn’s Mission. It’s a great time to send one final reminder to friends and family who will want to support you.

Download the app for iPhone or Android, or register online: http://www2.heart.org/goto/CannonElementary.

Any student that raises $125 gets to pour a cup of GLITTER SLIME on Coach Hood!!!

Congratulations to the following students who have already earned our school’s challenge: Max B , Trenton T , Kirkland S , Kira C , Kathryn B , Aurora J , Barrett B , Faith C , Zoe B , Isaac F , Jameson H , Nicholas B , Delaney H , Savannah V , Sawyer B , Jay B , Elizabeth H , Levi S , Tara B , Ryder W , Grace B , Claire M.

One more way to be a lifesaver:
Stroke is a major cause of death and disability. Acting quickly is critical. Protect your family by learning to spot a stroke as part of Finn’s Mission. Log into your Kids Heart Challenge page and click on the Stroke Quiz then click “share” to send the video.

Don’t forget: You can double your gift by checking to see if your employer will match your donation. Follow the steps and forward the confirmation to matchinggifts@heart.org to have this added to the student’s fundraising page. (https://www2.heart.org/site/SPageNavigator/aha_matchpro_landing.html)
