Superintendent Report
Superintendent Kalahar reported on the following items:
Board Communication
- Director Siderius went to opening day and handed out stickers to staff. They had fun. General assembly information is out.
- Director Norton recognized the amount of work it takes to get kids back to school. She acknowledged the smoke impacts on programs and activities and appreciated the amount and quality of back-to-school communications.
- Director Belton attended the district's Opening Day Celebration and back-to-school night at WHS to get kids ready. Wish everyone a great start to the school year.
- Director Iniguez enjoyed the welcome back event for staff and highlighted the energy from the start to the end of the event.
- President Jackson also attended Opening Day and noted it was well attended, with standing room only and high energy. He acknowledged that students, staff, and parents are ready to go back to school. He went to Washington and Orchard's back-to-school nights. Over the weekend, he attended the Class of 1974 tour of WHS. He shared that everything was largely the same for them as it was in 1974 and that there is a great deal of nostalgia among the alumni for the school. If the district were to hold a surplus sale when the bond passes, they'll want to attend it to purchase a piece of the old school.
