Windsong Elementary
August 1, 2025
π Windsong Weekly: August 9, 2026
Dear Windsong Ranch Families,
Thank you to all of our families who were able to join us for Meet the Teacher! It was awesome to see so many of our new and returning families. Only 2 more sleeps until we have a building full of students again! We can't wait to see their smiling faces, hear their laughs, and learn about all the cool things they did this summer!
For our returning families, youβll be glad to know that our arrival and dismissal procedures will be the exact same as last year. If you see a new face during those first few days, please lend a friendly hand and help guide our new families through the routine! If your student plans to ride a bike or scooter to school, please take a few minutes to watch the video together before the first day to review our safety rules and expectations.
Our arrival/dismissal newsletter went out on Wednesday, click here if you missed it! Parents are welcome to walk their child(ren) to class on the first day of school only. On day 2, students will walk in the building independently and staff will be available to assist.
Beginning on day 2, the front parking lot is closed for drop off with the exception of students in our Behavior Transition or Communications classrooms and those who have a medical need such as a broken leg. All car riders should go through the front (A-L) or back (M-Z) car line.
For our students' safety at dismissal it is imperative that you not park on Copper Canyon or Redstem, so that traffic, including our buses, can safely get through. Parking on these streets block your neighbor's driveways, slow down our A-L and M-Z car lines and block drivers from being able to see our walkers. If you are driving to the school to pick up your child, you should be using our car lines.
Our counselor, Mrs. Stenson, would love to see you at the Counselor Connection, on Tuesday, 8/25, from 8 - 8:30. Click here for more information and to sign up!
Enjoy these last few days of summer and weβll see you all VERY soon!
Windsong STRONG!

Principal

β Important Notes for the 26-27 School Year
Introducing the Profile of a Learning Leader
The Prosper ISD Profile of a Learning Leader represents a shared, unified vision created through the collaborative efforts of our entire school community, including teachers, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community partners across the district. This foundational document captures the core attributes, values, and mindsets we strive to cultivate in every member of the Prosper ISD family. Serving as our guiding star, it embodies the leadership and learning aspirations we hold for everyone within our system, fostering growth, excellence, and continuous improvement from our youngest learners all the way to the superintendent.
This profile didn't start from scratch; it grew directly out of our 2025β2030 Strategic Priorities, which were themselves built through months of listening to teachers, students, families, and staff across the district. Once those four pillars β Together We Champion, Together We Cultivate, Together We Empower, and Together We Prosperβ were set, small groups from across Prosper ISD came together again to answer a more personal question: what does it actually look like, day to day, for a student or an employee to live out these priorities? The Profile of a Learning Leader is the answer.
At Windsong Ranch Elementary, this profile is more than just a set of ideals β it is an active, daily practice. As a campus community, we are dedicated to intentionally teaching, reinforcing, and building upon these core characteristics in all that we do. Whether through instructional practices, collaborative leadership, or daily interactions, we ensure that every student, educator, and staff member is supported in developing these traits. By embedding the Profile of a Learning Leader into our school culture, we create a supportive environment where every individual can achieve excellence every day in every way.
Submitting an Absence
We hope your student won't have to be absent anytime soon, but just in case, please read through the absence information which is found on Prosper's WRE website. There is a change this year for doctorβs notes or other supporting documentation for an absence. They should now be submitted by completing the online Attendance Note Submission form and uploading your documentation within the form. Student's 8-digit ID numbers (900...) are required in order to complete the form, and may be found in Skyward Family Access. This process applies to both full-day and partial-day absences. Please note that a parent notification submitted through Skyward Family Access regarding a doctor's visit does not qualify as a doctor's note. If you have any questions, please reach out to our registrar at windsong-registrar@prosper-isd.net.
Be Kind Shirts
Spread Kindness with Our New "Be Kindβ Shirt!
Did you know that every purchase of this districtwide shirt directly empowers our students? 100% of the proceeds go to our campus's Hope Squad account, providing vital funding for events like Hope Week and the Hope Walk as well as other campus-led Hope initiatives.
We are thrilled to launch the new school year with our district "Be Kind" shirts and sweatshirts. This isn't just apparel, it's a movement. We encourage staff and students to wear yellow on Wednesdays to show your support of mental health and the Prosper ISD Hope Squad.
Prospering Promise Partners
Weβre looking for caring, committed adults to serve as mentors to Prosper ISD students. You donβt need to be a counselor or expertβjust someone willing to listen, encourage, and show up consistently. Mentors meet with students on campus during the school day in a structured, supportive environment.
As a mentor, youβll help students feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow into the confident, resilient leaders of tomorrow. We provide all the training and toolsβyou bring your time and heart.
All applicants must complete and pass a Prosper ISD Volunteer Background Check.
Volunteer mentors will:

UIL Academics Grades 2-5
We are VERY excited about our students having the opportunity to participate in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) A+ Academics Competition in grades 2 - 5.
Students who are interested in learning about, practicing, and competing in these events will need to start prepping NOW for the events they are interested in at home.
You will be able to indicate areas of interest for your student. Please keep in mind that there may be conflicts with practice and/or competition times, and it may not be possible to participate in multiple events. If you would like your child to participate in UIL Academics, please sign up BEFORE September 18, 2026. The first UIL contests will begin in October.
π Counselor's Corner
In the counselor's corner, our school counselor, Ms. Stenson, will share ideas each week to support the whole child throughout their elementary school journey.
