September Bronco Bulletin

A Note From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I absolutely love this time of year. September means fall is close and cooler weather is in our future. At least cooler than 90-degree temperatures! We have had an amazing start to this school year, and we look forward to an amazing semester. Just a friendly reminder that our new attendance time this year is 9:15 a.m. If a student arrives after that time, they are marked absent. With every instructional minute counting, we encourage all students to be on time to school. Cheers to a sweet start here at Brosnahan! We are definitely on our path to amazing!
Sincerely,
Dr. Silliman

Annual Student Update
Starting the week of July 14, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD will email parents/guardians with a reminder to log into the CFISD Parent Portal. From there, parents/guardians need to select the Home Access Center (HAC) to complete required updates for students returning for the 2025-26 school year who were enrolled and active on the last day of school.
Annually, parents/guardians are required to review, update, and acknowledge enrollment documents. The district makes this process convenient for parents/guardians by adding the update to the same portal that you routinely access to view grades, attendance, and more. If your student will be returning to CFISD for the 2025-26 school year, please make plans to log in to verify and/or make changes to:
- any parent/guardian contact information,
- the student's physical address,
- emergency contact (names and contact information), and
- your student’s authorizations (photo/permission).
Even if no changes are needed, the parents/guardians should access the Annual Student Update to review information about the Student Code of Conduct, Attendance & Truancy Laws, as well as authorizations for photo, video, and release of information
School Lunch Account Information
CFISD Parents:
The first day of school is August 13th. Is your student’s lunch account ready?
Please take a moment to log in to School Café to update your student’s account, clear any balances, OR complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application.
If you have received a notification letter from Nutrition Services, please read it carefully and follow any instructions as needed.
Remember that Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) students do not need to complete a Free and Reduced Lunch Application. You only need to fill out the income survey provided by your student’s campus.
The Nutrition Services website has all the answers to your questions, but reach out if you need us, we’re here for you!

Health Screenings
HEALTH SCREENINGS
In accordance with the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 37, Rule §37.25, CFISD will conduct the following state-mandated health screenings. All screenings will be performed by certified screeners following guidance from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- Vision and Hearing Screening:
- All students aged 4 and older who are enrolled for the first time
- Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th grades
- Spinal Screening
- Girls in 5th and 7th grades
- Boys in 8th grade
- Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes (Acanthosis Nigricans)
- Students in 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th grades
If you wish to opt out of any required screening, you may do so by submitting signed and dated documentation from a licensed healthcare provider showing the completed screening results. This documentation must be provided to your campus nurse no later than September 1st. If the screening conflicts with the beliefs or practices of your student’s church or religious denomination, you may submit an affidavit to the school nurse in place of the screening record.
