GMUES NEWS from Mrs. Hughes :)
Hello Grizzly Families!
Parent-teacher conferences are a great opportunity to check in on your child’s progress, celebrate successes, and talk through any questions or concerns you may have. You are an important part of your child’s team, and staying connected with their teacher makes a difference!
Report cards will be emailed home on Wednesday. Watch for an email from your child’s teacher with a sign-up time for conferences this week. Remember, we will have noon dismissal on Thursday and Friday to accommodate conferences.
Please take advantage of this opportunity to connect, ask questions, and make sure you have the information you need to support your child’s success. If you have questions at any time, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. We’re all in this together!
Warmly,
Karen Hughes, Principal

PUSD Parents,
We’ve received some great questions about PUSD’s Propositions 405 & 406, and we want to make sure our PUSD families have access to clear, helpful information. This is the first in a series of three Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) emails, where we’ll address common questions and provide additional information about the propositions.
Please also visit PUSD’s Facebook page for FAQ Fridays, where other important questions are answered.
Q: What are school district bonds and budget overrides?
A: Both of these are ways to provide local funding to schools; money not provided by the state. Bonds pay for major capital expenses like buses and buildings, and cannot be used to pay staff. Budget overrides are primarily used to increase staff pay.
Q: I’ve seen YES for PUSD signs all around town. Are these paid for by the school district? Where can I get more information?
A: PUSD is prohibited from advocating for our own ballot measures. YES for PUSD is a grass-roots group of community members who support the PUSD override and bond measures. You can Google them for more information.
Q: Can PUSD use district resources to do anything regarding this important election?
A: PUSD can send emails with factual information like this one, we can post information at THIS LINK on the PUSD website. We also encourage all eligible parents and citizens to register and to VOTE.
Thank you,
PUSD Administration

GMUES Annual Veteran's Day Celebration!
Granite Mountain Upper Elementary School will be having our annual Veteran's Day Celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 10th. There is no school on Wednesday, Nov. 11th.
If you have any veteran (spouse, sibling, parent, etc.) that is local in the tri-city area who would like to attend, please fill out this Google Form. The last day to fill it out is Thurs. Nov. 5th at noon.
https://forms.gle/XmqiZcabckwHBybd9
We will be having breakfast for the veterans, a parade walk, and an assembly. After the assembly we will have some veterans visit classrooms and speak to students for a short time.
There will be NO modified schedule this day. Homeroom teachers you will be bringing your classes to the parade walk and then into the gym for our assembly. More info will come later with specifics! Just make sure you are aware that this takes up from about 8:20-10:20am.
Also... we do a veterans celebration wall where students can bring in pictures of any veteran from their family! We hang them up and are able to celebrate them as well. Please tell your students that they can bring the original picture into Ms. Sandi and she will make a copy of it. We like to label on the back of the picture copy who the veteran is, branch, and the student name.
We hope to see you on Nov. 11th! Just click this flyer below to sign up!

From the school nurse
Hello from Nurse Jess!
COMING UP:
Hearing and vision screening are coming up! Hearing and vision screenings will be
conducted for eligible students in the coming week. These routine screenings help identify
potential concerns that may impact learning. Parents/guardians will be contacted if follow-up is
recommended. No action is needed unless you would like to opt your child out of screening.
DON’T FORGET:
Please log into Synergy to review or update your child’s medical consent forms,
including approval for OTC medications. If your child needs a daily prescription or emergency
medication such as an inhaler or EpiPen, please bring the medication and required
documentation to the Nurse’s office.
11-Year-Old Immunization Reminder:
Has your child recently turned 11? Arizona school requirements include Tdap and
Meningococcal vaccines at this age. Please send in an updated immunization record if these
vaccines were recently received.
Thank you for helping us keep your child safe and cared for at school!
