Hello Families,

This will be a busy and fun week as we count down the days to our Winter break. It's Spirit Week, capped off with a Talent Show on Friday. Workshops for learning songs and auditions for the Spring Musical will be held each afternoon after school. Here are the Spirit Day themes:

• Monday - School Colors Day --> 6th Grade wears Purple; 7th Grade wears Black; 8th Grade wears Green
• Tuesday - Twin/Teacher Twin Day
• Wednesday - Bikers/Skaters vs. Surfers & Music Concert Teaser
• Thursday - Formal Wear
• Friday - Winter Festive Wear/Ugly Sweaters & Talent Show assembly

There will be special schedules for a music teaser on Wednesday at the end of the day and also the assembly on Friday. It is very difficult to locate students during assemblies so if you need to pick up your student early, please make arrangements in advance for them to be waiting in the office.

Our Counseling team would love to get some more gift cards to help support some of our da Vinci families in need of assistance this holiday season. Please see the below flyer on the Gift Card Drive. Please send any of the suggested gift cards to the main office or room 206 counseling office by Wednesday afternoon. Thank you so much for helping out if you can.

The Music Concert will include performances by African Drumming classes, Beginning and Advanced Bands, Choir, and our rock band, Trogdor. Tickets are available in advance on SchoolPay for a suggested $10, or you can pay at the door. We will need some volunteers to help out with the front of house and monitoring students when they are not on stage. If you can help out, please sign up HERE.

Our PTSA will be meeting on Wednesday and on Thursday, volunteers will be on hand at the Music Concert selling apparel and merch to benefit the PTSA. See the details below.

12/16- Winter Talent Show Assembly- Locker clean out (all lockers must be cleaned out this week before break)- Home Covid Test kits sent home through 7th period classes.

12/16- Lottery window closes for next year's admission

12/17 - 1/2/23- Winter Break- classes resume Tuesday, 1/3/23

The lottery to apply for PPS Focus Option schools, middle and high school grades closes Friday, December 16th. For those with 5th graders, you must apply through the lottery for da Vinci admission.

For our current 8th graders, this is the time to apply if you are interested in a spot at Benson, MLC or the Jefferson High School - Middle College for Advanced Studies.

8th grade families that reside in a dual assignment area will be asked to choose between attending the Jefferson Middle College Program and their neighborhood comprehensive high school.

Membership and PTSA Meeting this week

The next da Vinci PTSA meeting is Wednesday, December 14th from 6:00 – 7:30 both in person in the da Vinci Cafeteria and on Zoom and you can RSVP HERE. Please join us for the meeting and this year dinner is provided for the in-person meeting, so please RSVP and join us so we can build our community and support our teachers and students.
