Excellence Runs Wild at Forest Glen
Donations Needed: Transforming Our FGMS Courtyard
We’re excited to create a beautiful and welcoming courtyard space for our students at FGMS, and we need your help to make it possible! As summer comes to a close, please consider donating any gently used outdoor items you may no longer need, such as seating, picnic tables or other sturdy tables (no glass, please), or standing umbrellas. Instead of throwing those items away, bring them to FGMS and help us transform the courtyard into an inviting place for students to learn, relax, and connect. If you have questions about a potential donation, please reach out to Dr. Doyle. Together, we can make FGMS an amazing environment for our students.
Support Our Students
At FGMS, we love celebrating our students! Each week, we recognize a Student of the Week and also give students the chance to use rewards they earn through our PBIS program. PBIS, or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, is a schoolwide system that encourages students to demonstrate positive choices, responsibility, and respect. To keep this program strong, we need your help! Please consider supporting our students by donating items from our Amazon Wish List. Your generosity will directly impact our students and help us continue to celebrate their hard work and positive actions every day.
Items can be shipped directly to Forest Glen Middle School or dropped off at the building at anytime. We will need items throughout the year, so anything you can do help is appreciated. If you have a business or know a local business that would like to partner with FGMS, please reach out to Dr. Doyle
Maximizing Learning Time for Every Student
Families, we need your partnership in helping us protect valuable instructional time for all students. To ensure a safe and smooth dismissal, we ask that afternoon pick-ups be completed before 1:40 p.m. After this time, our staff are focused on preparing for dismissal and ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently.
When students are picked up early, even a few at a time, it creates multiple interruptions to the classroom and cuts short the time our teachers can spend supporting every learner. By waiting until dismissal, you help us give each student the full benefit of the school day.
If you would like a car rider tag to make afternoon pick-up even easier, please stop by the main office. Thank you for your continued support in keeping dismissal safe and maximizing learning time for all of our students!
Lockers
Students will be using lockers, and we ask that bookbags, and other items are stored there starting this week. Students will have designated times to use their lockers.
Online Payment Forms
To purchase items such as agendas, locks for lockers, lost library fines, Chromebook fees, yearbooks, etc click the button below. You will need to use student ID number.
Safety Drills
Multiple practice drills are conducted throughout the year for everyone’s safety. Outside visitors must wait outside until the drill is completed. Students will not be dismissed during a drill. If you are visiting the school during a drill, please follow procedures provided by the office staff or other school personnel.
We will be holding a lock down drill this week. Please speak with your child to make sure they understand the importance of these drills.
Each school will have at least two lock-down drills every school year. One drill will be completed in September of each school year and one drill will be completed in January of each school year.
There will be at least one tornado drill every school year in every school.
Lock-down plans and drills will be in compliance with the Statewide Fire Prevention Code, Va. Code § 27-94 et seq.

For safety reasons we are requesting only lightweight, BPA-free plastic water bottles or cups with secure lids should be brought to school. We are asking student to refrain from bringing Stanley cups and other similar metal or heavy tumblers, as they are prone to large spills and can pose a safety risk if dropped or misused. Please send students with spill-resistant, BPA-free plastic bottles.
Canned or glass bottled drinks are not permitted.
Student ID Badges
Suffolk Public Schools (SPS) is launching a division-wide Student Identification Badge Program to enhance student safety, improve bus ridership accountability, and streamline daily operations within school facilities.
The program will begin with a pilot implementation in Fall 2025 at one elementary school (SWES) and one middle school which is Forest Glen Middle School. After collecting feedback from these schools, the initiative will expand to all elementary and middle schools, with high school implementation scheduled for January 2026 (second semester).

Transportation
Suffolk Public Schools is excited to announce access to a revolutionary smartphone app that helps to improve communication, school bus safety, and efficiency. The Edulog Parent Portal app provides you with planned time and location information for your child’s bus ride to school. On a daily basis, the app will show you the GPS location of the bus and send you a push notification when it is nearing your bus stop.
This app is free of charge for our parents, caregivers, and students. In addition to displaying the location of your bus and sending the notifications, you can also receive time-sensitive messages from our transportation department. You will also receive a notification when a substitute bus is running your route due to scheduled maintenance on your regular bus, for example.
The Edulog Parent Portal app integrates with our school bus routing system. School bus locations are sent from a GPS device installed on each bus, which provides up-to-date information.
