WELCOME BACK

We enjoyed a welcome Easter break and the weather was glorious. Since our return to school, everyone has been busy learning lots and preparing for the forthcoming Summer term. 22 staff undertook a training day, led very ably by Taff Bowles, Head of Outdoor Learning for the authority, as well as by two superb forest school practitioners. We spent all day outside and have been able to remind ourselves about the outdoor environment as a resource at our finger tips. Look out for your children sharing with you their experiences. Initially, we aim to incorporate outdoor activities into every class on a weekly basis.

SATs

The SATs season is almost upon us. Reminder - Y6 SATs is the week commencing 13th May and Y2 SATs will be undertaken in the week commencing 20th May. We are immensely proud of every individual child in our school and we know how much effort they put into their learning on a daily basis.

We are confident that our pupils know how much we value them and recognise that we nurture them as individuals. With this in mind, we make this period as normal as possible and we will be there to continue to support every pupil.

Our curriculum is stimulating and challenging and we have no doubt that are children are very well prepared for the SATs, as well as for the next step in their schooling.

If you have any questions about the structure of the week or the assessments which are being undertaken please don't hesitate to speak with Mrs Wood, Mrs Gunn, Mrs Clark or Mr Richardson.

CREATING MEMORIES

Class 3 from Wetwang and Class 2 from Sledmere enjoyed a thoroughly fantastic visit to Hull New Theatre to see Tom Gates Live. Everybody had so much fun and the production was INCREDIBLE!! Please ask your children all about it.

LISTENING TO YOU

We continue to strive to improve our school environment. We are working with a local artist in order to improve further our school hall. This exciting project will incorporate at its heart your children's ideas and work. We will reveal more exciting details as soon as we can.

CHURCH, GOVERNORS AND COMMUNITY

After the half-term as part of our curriculum work on RE we are planning some projects which will involve supporting our local community. We will plan these with the children and hope to be able to put on some regular events where we can share our learning with local people and continue to make links with the school which is at the heart of the village.

Are you interested in helping out with the Friends Of Wetwang School (FOWS)? Your children need your continued support in order to enhance further their school experiences. We would like to host discos and days out which are organised by FOWS, but at present there are only a few parents/ carers who are able to support this. PTA groups are vital in improving a school and in supporting the children and staff. Please get in contact with Mr Richardson if you can offer some time. We really appreciate your support.
