I can hear it already… 🎵 School’s 🎶 Out 🎵 For 🎶 Summer! 🎵
Ok, not quite but we are very close. So, what are your plans for the summer months? As a kid, the end of the school year and the anticipation of summer is exciting. As a parent, you might feel differently. Read on for some inspiration on things to do to make the most of the summer for you and your kid(s).
Science proves that being in nature and around bodies of water can immensely benefit a person’s overall well-being. My own family plans to spend our summer mostly unplugged and enjoying the great outdoors.
We live close to Alum Creek State Park and we are definitely water people. We will be going to the Alum Creek Beach a few times this summer at least. A fun fact: Alum Creek State Park's 3,000-foot beach is the largest inland beach in Ohio's state park system. You should check it out! It’s perfect for a day trip with packed lunches and beach toys.
We will also be adventuring through multiple nature parks this summer as well. One of our favorites is Shale Hollow in Delaware. We like to go play and explore in the creek there and the shale is perfect for skipping rocks. Another fun fact: Shale Hollow Park is home to several spherical rock formations called concretions. They are a mystery of nature!
Whatever you end up doing this summer, I wish you all a nice mixture of excitement, fun and relaxation.
