🌰 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 🌰 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear MGES Families,

The Upper Dublin School District is committed to maintaining a healthy and safe environment for all students. In accordance with national best practices, as well as state and federal regulations, we regularly conduct various emergency drills throughout the school year. These drills are essential in ensuring that both students and staff are well-prepared in the event of any potential emergency situation.

During these drills, information will be presented to students in an age-appropriate manner, and all drills will be conducted with a trauma-informed approach to support students' well-being. On Friday, May 15th, Maple Glen Elementary will be conducting an evacuation drill and practicing reunification procedures for Grades 3-5 only. As part of this exercise, students will walk to our external relocation site, Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School, 29 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen. Our district safety coordinator will be present to support our walk to OLM. If the weather does not cooperate, we will relocate our evacuation to our MG gym.

2026-27 Classroom Placement- As our teachers begin to plan for classroom placements for next school year, we ask that you share some feedback to your child's current classroom teacher and the placement team for next school year. Please use this form which will be available until May 11th.

Best regards,
Mr. Perez

Kindergarten Celebrates Mother's Day

Our Kindergarten Mother’s Day Celebration was a heartwarming and memorable event for everyone involved. Students were excited to welcome their parents and special guests to honor the important role they play in their lives. The highlight of the celebration was when our kindergarteners proudly performed two special songs dedicated to Mother’s Day. They sang with enthusiasm, big smiles, and a few happy nerves, making the moment even more special for their audience.

It was truly an adorable and meaningful experience that brought smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears. We are so grateful to all the parents and family members who joined us to celebrate, helping to make this event so special for our students. Happy Mother's Day to all our Maple Glen Mothers, Grandmothers, and bonus Moms.

P.R.I.D.E. Assembly Spotlight: “E” for Empathy

Last week, our school community came together for another exciting PRIDE Assembly, where we focused on the letter “E” — Empathy. Throughout the assembly, students explored what it truly means to understand and care about the feelings of others, both in and out of the classroom.

To bring this concept to life, several 5th grade students listened to a special read-aloud centered on empathy. Students were encouraged to reflect on ways they can show empathy.

To wrap up the assembly, we shifted gears and ended on a high-energy note with a hula hoop competition! The individual hula hoop class champions squared off against other class champions.

Shout out to Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Cuticchia, and Mrs. Gerhart for their support at this assembly.

🌼Spring Allergy Season: A Message from the Health Office 🌼

Spring is here, and so are seasonal allergies for our chipmunks! Sneezing, itchy eyes, and congestion can make school days more challenging.

Here are some helpful tips for home:
• Keep windows closed
• Wash hands/face after outdoor play
• Change clothes after being outside
• Shower before bed

We appreciate your help in keeping students comfortable and ready to learn! Remind your child to troubleshoot itchy eyes by not rubbing at their eyes, washing their hands, and even using easy remedies like a wet paper towel. Red itchy eyes especially are the biggest challenge for our youngest chipmunks.

If your child struggles with allergies, consider checking in with your healthcare provider about management options. Please do your best to remember to administer any allergy medications at home to keep your child the most comfortable at school.

Medications at School:
If your child needs medication during the school day, please contact the Health Office before sending anything in. Do NOT send in medication to school unless you have reviewed the situation first with the nurse.

Required paperwork for in-school medication (over-the-counter or prescription):
• Medication Dispensing Form (linked below)
• Physician’s order/prescription

Medication will not be administered in school without the required paperwork.

We've got this, Chipmunks!
