August 2024 August 2024

Welcome to our monthly communication tailored specifically for you, our valued families in the D49 community. As we strive to strengthen our partnership, we are eager to hear your voice and understand how we can better support you in facilitating your child's learning journey at home. Your input is invaluable in shaping decisions regarding your child's education, and we are committed to ensuring that your questions and suggestions are addressed.

Throughout the year, we will be focusing on a diverse range of topics, carefully selected based on the feedback we receive from you. To generate open communication and feedback, we will be extending a personal invitation to you to join our quarterly Engage49 LIVE where you will have the opportunity to share your questions and feedback directly with us. Please be on the lookout for this invitation.

Additionally, be sure to stay tuned for the monthly Engage49 Insider, your go-to publication for family support, information, and resources tailored to the needs and interests that you and your family have shared with us. Thank you for your continued partnership and involvement in your child's education.

With Gratitude for Our Families,

The FSCP Team

Parental Involvement Vs. Parental Engagement

Family Engagement is defined by National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement as:

  • Family engagement is a shared responsibility in which schools and other community agencies and organizations are committed to reaching out to engage families in meaningful ways and in which families are committed to actively supporting their children's learning and development.
  • Family engagement is continuous across a child’s life and entails enduring commitment but changing parent roles as children mature into young adulthood.
  • Effective family engagement cuts across and reinforces learning in the multiple settings where children learn- at home, in prekindergarten programs, in school, in after-school programs, in faith-based institutions, and in the community.
