Fall Break Fall Break

EECC will be closed for Fall Break October 12th-16th. As a reminder, EECC follows the RBB school calendar which can be found at www.rbbschools.net

Picture Day Picture Day

EECC Picture Day will be October 5th. If your child does not attend school on Mondays, you have the option to bring them in to be photographed between 9:00-9:20, or wait until our picture retake day which will be on Thursday, November 5th. If you want to bring them Monday, but cannot do 9:00, please let me know what time works and we will see if that works with our photographer's schedule.

Supporting Transitions

Moving from one activity to another can be tough for young children. They navigate these daily shifts best when they are supported by predictable routines, advance warnings, caring relationships, and opportunities to make small choices. Research shows that helping children build independence during transitions supports social-emotional growth, increases active learning time, and minimizes daily friction at home and school.

Here are practical transition strategies you can use at home:

  • Visual Activity Schedules & Advance Warnings: Tools like picture schedules, visual timers, and 5-minute/1-minute advance warnings can reduce anxiety and challenging behavior by showing children exactly what comes next.
  • Sound Cues & Routine Songs: Consistent sound cues like a cleanup song, a gentle chime, or a timer bell give young children clear prompts to shift focus and ease into the next activity.
  • Autonomy & Helper Roles: Giving toddlers and preschoolers simple choices (e.g., "Would you like to hop or march to the car?") or concrete helper tasks (like holding the door or carrying a bag) builds independence and cooperation.
  • Staying patient, Caring, and Connected: Warm, secure attachments with caregivers and teachers provide emotional comfort during both minor daily shifts and big milestones.
  • Consistency Between Home and School: Using similar transition tricks between home and school will help children feel more secure because they know what to expect. Feel free to ask your child’s teacher what transition songs or visual cues work best in class so you can give them a try at home.

As always, the team at EECC is here to support you! Please reach out if you’d like help trying any of these strategies at home or if you want to brainstorm personalized ideas for your family.
