Cole Miners' Dig
November 7, 2025
Principal's Notes
We kicked off the week with field trips in kindergarten to the Norwell Library and in third grade to Plimoth Patuxet. Both grade levels had fun learning and exploring! Fifth grade shared their very creative Volume Zoo projects with the school on Friday morning to end their unit on volume. PJ Day and Music in the Cafeteria was such a fun way to end the week! Thank you to the many families that paid their dues already and got us beyond the 50% mark to celebrate! Be sure to ask your child which song they enjoyed hearing the most.
We celebrated School Psychology Week and School Psychologist Appreciation Day this week by saying thank you to our school psychologist, Dr. Leah Ciolkosz.
Next week, we'll have our first Community Meeting of the year with 4th grade hosting. Parents are welcome to attend Community Meeting from 9:05-9:25 in the gym. They'll focus on Veteran's Day and gratitude.
On Friday, we'll acknowledge World Diabetes Day by wearing blue to show support for students and others that live with diabetes each day. We'll also send along some cards to Superintendent Keegan for National Superintendent Appreciation Day. Norwell Schools have been in good hands thanks to Mr. Keegan's steady and consistent leadership for 14 years!
Cole School is holding a Food Drive to benefit the Norwell Food Pantry until November 14th. The priority items are listed below. Items should be non-perishable, not past expiration dates, and unopened. All donated items can be dropped off in the main lobby at Cole School.
Magnificent Meerkats
Almost 300 students have been nominated as Magnificent Meerkats since the start of the school year! Way to go, Cole School! Here are some of the nominations from this week:
- He has been shining brightly in the third grade by demonstrating responsibility for his learning. He pays close attention during our lessons by showing whole body listening and he actively participates by sharing his ideas. Keep up the great work!

Community News
Let's invest in the teachers and students that make Cole School shine! This November, the Norwell Education Foundation is launching a fall campaign to fund teacher-written grants that support creativity, opportunity, and excellence for every Norwell student. Your gift - of any size - makes an immediate difference in our classrooms. The NEF has recently funded multiple grants for Cole Elementary, including the Communication Sign on the playground, the Big Blue Blocks for creative play during recess, a first-grade phonics program, and learning tools to promote the behavioral and emotional regulation of students. The NEF is proud to be part of a community that believes in the power of education. Every dollar makes a difference, so please consider donating here during this Fall fundraising drive. Together we can inspire learning that lasts a lifetime!
