Parent Visitation Day

American Education Week is November 13 -17, 2023. On Wednesday, November 15 schools will be open for parents to visit their children's classes. We welcome any middle school parents to join us on that day. Our building will be open 8:30 - 10:30 AM and 1:00 - 2:00 PM. Unfortunately, there is no extra room in the cafeteria so parents are not able to stay for any lunch periods. All parents will need to bring their drivers license and scan it into the Raptor system prior to going to any classes. If you have used the raptor system before you may use the link below to pre-gister by November 13th so that We will pre-print a sticker for you.

Parent Volunteers Needed

Another way students are rewarded for their ROCK behavior is through weekly drawings. Students win time in our Backstage Lounge which was so generously furnished by the PV Foundation. The lounge has cool furniture where students can eat lunch, an air hockey table, and an XBox One. We need parents to help us out during lunches to monitor students in the lounge. There are only 6 students in the lounge at a time, so it is a small group. Would you be able to donate some time during our lunches? If so, please sign up using this form:

Students have been earning ROCK tickets throughout the first marking period and it is time for them to start cashing them in for prizes, but we need your help. Please consider purchasing an item or two from our PVMS East ROCK Shop Amazon Wishlist. Purchases will be sent to East and delivered to the ROCK shop where your students can purchase them with their hard-earned tickets. Here is the link to the list:

We can also use Amazon gift cards, gift cards to local restaurants and stores, as well as any Philadelphia sports fan gear you would like to donate. We love our community and appreciate your support of our students and school.

Green Team Update

Join Us at East's Student-Run Green Team Charity Bake Sale

On November 20th and 21st, something truly sweet is coming your way during East's Parent-Teacher Conferences. The East Green Team is excited to invite you to our Charity Bake Sale, where indulgence meets a noble cause. It's not just about satisfying your taste buds; it's about making East even greener and paying tribute to a local hero.

What's Cooking?

Our team of talented student bakers will be hard at work whipping up an array of delectable homemade treats. From mouthwatering cupcakes to scrumptious cookies, there's something to delight every palate. Gluten-free, and allergy-friendly options will also be available, ensuring there's a sweet treat for everyone.

A Greener East

Every penny you spend at our Charity Bake Sale goes directly toward our mission to make PVMS East a more sustainable and environmentally conscious place. We're raising funds to replant East's Green Wall, a vibrant living wall that represents our commitment to a greener future. The Green Wall not only adds beauty to our school but also helps purify the air and reduce our carbon footprint.

A Memorial Garden for a Local Hero

In addition to rejuvenating our Green Wall, we're proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds and donations from the bake sale will be used to create a new memorial garden in honor of Trooper Branden T. Sisca. Trooper Sisca served our community with bravery and dedication, and this garden will be a lasting tribute to his memory, filled with lush greenery and beautiful blooms.

How You Can Help

  1. Visit our Student-Run Charity Bake Sale during Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 20th and 21st.

  2. Indulge in a variety of delicious baked goods and share the love with friends and family.

  3. Make a donation to support the Green Team's mission to revitalize East's Green Wall and create a memorial garden for Trooper Sisca.

Can't Attend Conferences? You Can Still Make a Difference!

If you're unable to attend the bake sale in person but still want to contribute to our cause, we warmly welcome your donations. Please reach out to Mrs. Czapla at kczapla@pvsd.org to find out how you can make a donation and support our efforts to make East greener and remember a local hero.

By participating in the Student-Run Charity Bake Sale, you not only treat yourself to some of the finest baked goods in town but also contribute to the transformation of East Middle School into a greener, more eco-friendly place and help honor a local hero. Join us in making a difference, one sweet bite at a time, and help make East even greener!

Thank you for your support, and we can't wait to see you at the bake sale!

Together, we can make East greener!

You can help us fundraise by purchasing a brick for the pathway.

Please email Dr. Clune directly if you want to sponsor the picnic table ($1,400) or a bench ($800) or be listed as a sponsor ($1000) on the sign.

Nurse's Notes

Required Immunizations

Please make sure that your child has their required immunizations to start school. Our nurse will be reaching out to individual families without their proper paperwork.

Physical & Dental Exams

Sixth grade students require a physical examination and seventh grade students require a dental examination. Exams from July 1, 2022 to the present are acceptable. If your child has had these examinations, please be sure to send a copy to the Nurse's office. Forms are available on the PV website. Your cooperation with this is most appreciated!

Medication

If your child requires medication during the school day, parents must bring the medication to school with the appropriate forms completed by the physician. The forms can be found on the PV website. No medication should be in the student’s possession (pockets, lunch, purse/handbag, or backpack) unless designated by the nurse per state laws.

It is especially important if your child has been diagnosed with a life-threatening allergy, seizures or asthma AND requires emergency medication that you supply the nurse with the required medication.

All medications are to be delivered directly to the nurse’s office and kept in the health room unless otherwise designated by the school nurse. Medication may be delivered at the start of the school year.

SAFE2SAY

We reviewed our Safe 2 Say program last week. Our students viewed the video below during their Advisory period.

Our students can submit an anonymous tip through the Safe2Say Program. Tips are typically related to a variety of challenges our students experience or witness, such as bullying, harassment, disrespectful language, safety concerns, etc. When a tip is received, the State (who runs Safe2Say) immediately follows up with building administrators.
