Message from The Principal
Spring is in the Air...
We are in full swing of all things spring at Conway School! So many exciting things to look forward to including more sunshine. You won't want to miss SPARK Night. This was a huge success last year, Mrs Hunsaker and our PTO did a wonderful job and this year is sure to be even better (and bigger!). Later this month we also have our annual spring carnival. What fun!
Spring also means we start to think about 'showing what we know' on state and local assessments. April officially begins our testing season. Please make sure students are well rested, eat healthy food to power their brains and are coming to school on time. We are proud of our hard work and this is one way of showing off that pride. Click below for the the testing letter for grades 3-8 at Conway.
Spring Housing Questionnaire
Have you had a change in your housing situation?
We know that throughout the school year, families could have changes in their housing situation. If your family is experiencing a sudden loss of housing, we have resources that could support you. Please complete this Housing Questionnaire attached and reach out to our school office.
The McKinney-Vento Act defines homeless children as "individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence." The act provides examples of children who would fall under this definition:
- Children and youth sharing housing due to loss of housing, economic hardship or a similar reason
- Children and youth living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camp grounds due to lack of alternative accommodations
- Children and youth living in emergency or transitional shelters
- Children and youth abandoned in hospitals
- Children and youth whose primary nighttime residence is not ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation (e.g. park benches, etc)
- Children and youth living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations
- Migratory children and youth living in any of the above situations
Counseling Connection
Peace Groups with Ms. Sallie
Ms. Sallie, school counselor, has started her small social-emotional groups! These small groups are targeting students who could benefit from having more practice with social skills. Students will have been referred by both teachers, staff, and parents. These small groups focus on building skills in friendship skills, emotion regulation, communication skills, positive self-talk, and healthy coping strategies. Groups are kept small (3-6 students), with same aged peers, held once per week for about 15-20 min, and running for six weeks. Students participating in these Peace Groups will be working on SEL Goals throughout the week. Activities are fun, engaging, and promote team building and self-esteem.

Conway Multilingual Learner Program
Kid Smartz Safety Program for Parents of K-5 Students
Kid Smartz
Check out this great resource for helping K-5 students learn skills to be safe and recognize situations that may be dangerous. They have kid friendly videos and a number of free resources for parents.
They also have a free Child ID Kit (linked below). You can print it off and use a pencil or stamp pad to create fingerprints. Or order the Safe Kit Below.
Child Safe Kit
If the child is ever lost or abducted, vital data can quickly be relayed to authorities. That’s why your child’s school, together with American Income Life Insurance Company, has arranged Child Safe Kits for the children and grandchildren in your family at NO COST to you or the school.
