DR. MARTIN'S MESSAGE DR. MARTIN'S MESSAGE

Dear Cardinal Pacelli Families,

Curriculum Night

We look forward to welcoming all of our families to Curriculum Night tomorrow, Thursday, August 27, from 6:00–7:30 p.m.

Please meet in the gym at 6:00 p.m. for a brief welcome before visiting your child’s classroom and learning more about the exciting year ahead. To give parents the opportunity to attend presentations from multiple teachers, the evening will be divided into three 20-minute sessions:

● 6:20–6:40 p.m. — Session 1

● 6:45–7:05 p.m. — Session 2

● 7:10–7:30 p.m. — Session 3

Parents may choose which teachers’ presentations they would like to attend during each session. We hope to see everyone tomorrow evening!

Birthday and Treat Policy

As we celebrate our students’ birthdays at school, we are making a small change to our birthday treat policy. To help us better protect students with food allergies and dietary restrictions, all birthday treats must now be prepackaged and individually wrapped, with a complete ingredient label from the manufacturer clearly visible on each package.

Please note that treats or donuts placed in individual Ziploc bags are not permitted, as they do not provide the necessary manufacturer ingredient information.

This change allows our teachers and staff to quickly review ingredients and determine whether a treat is safe for each student. Some ideas include: Drizzilicious, Rice Krispie Treats, Little Bites muffins, Oreo snack packs, Welch’s Fruit Snacks, Goldfish crackers, Mini Chips Ahoy, and Annie’s Bunny Grahams.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to make our school celebrations safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Ed Choice

A student is legally classified as a "habitual truant" if they miss a specific number of hours without a legitimate excuse. Please bring in a doctor’s note if they visit the doctor. Vacations are not excused absences.

● 30 consecutive hours (roughly 5 consecutive school days)

● 42 hours in one school month (roughly 7 school days)

● 72 hours in one school year (roughly 12 school days)

When these hours are crossed, Ohio law requires schools to form an Absence Intervention Team and potentially file a complaint in juvenile court, which can disqualify a student from maintaining their EdChoice voucher.

Best,

Jen Martin

CARDINAL PACELLI HEALTH CLINIC CARDINAL PACELLI HEALTH CLINIC

If you have not read the email regarding bullous impetigo, please do so. In addition to this recent school communication regarding bullous impetigo, the Clinic would like to provide one additional piece of information for families. The incubation period for impetigo is approximately 10 days, meaning that if a child is exposed, symptoms may not appear immediately and can develop during the days following exposure. This does not mean that every child who has been exposed will become infected. For this reason, we encourage families to remain aware of the signs described in the previous communication, including new blisters or sores, and to contact your child’s healthcare provider if you have concerns or notice symptoms. Early recognition and treatment help reduce the risk of spreading the infection to others. There is no need for alarm. This information is being shared so that families know what to watch for and can seek appropriate medical care promptly if needed.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation,

Cardinal Pacelli Health Clinic
