2023-2024
MMS Weekly Update
Week April 15, 2024
What a Monday we had at the eclipse viewing!! I can not thank our science ladies enough for organizing all the things to make this happen for our students and staff! I hope that everyone who wasn;t at school on Monday was able to enjoy the eclipse with their families.
NJHS School Dance was a HIT!! Students had a blast as well as the adults who go to chaperon! Thank you for having such great young adults who want to have fun with their friends!
DHS is hosting a school physicals night for incoming athletes 7th -12th grade. On May 1st 4-7 pm @ DHS gym. Each physical is $20 for the 24-25 school year. Please see flyer below for more information.
MMS Career day is May 20! We are in need of community members who would like to present to our students. Please see flyer below for more information.
Morning and Afternoon pick up in the side parking lot next to the main gym is a work in progress with new traffic pattern. We are working with cones now to determine if this solutions helps with drop off and pick up. Please be patient with us as we continue to work on a solution for all parking lots.
On STAAR testing days, we will have a closed campus to visitors. This means no lunches will be allowed to be delivered by parents. STAAR testing dates are on the following days:
April 17th - Science for 8th grade only
April 18th - Social Studies for 8th grade only
April 24th - Math for 6th, 7th, & 8th graders
Personal Safety presentation will be on Monday May 6 in grade level presentations. This is an opt in presentation. Please use the following links if needed. Your child came home with these opt in letters this past week.

Parents, if you are picking up your child towards the end of the day and they are in athletics, please pick them up by 2:40 before the bell rings for 9th period. Our coaches get poor reception in the field house/gym and on the track. It is hard for our office staff to get your child to the front office in time for appointments. Thank you for your help in this matter. It is greatly appreciated.
The Attendance Incentive is still going on!
If you have questions about grades, assignments, projects anything that is happening in your child's classroom, please reach out to their teachers. They will be the first ones to be able to answer these questions. Please schedule a student, parent, teacher conference to help clear up any miscommunication, or ways to help your child be more successful in their classes. We want to be transparent in our communication to all those involved with educating your child while they are at MMS.
It's the end of the six weeks, that means REWARD Party time!!
Reward Party information:
Final six weeks reward party will be held on May 20th.
The requirements are:
1.No Zeros in any class - this means all work had to be turned in
2. No discipline of ISS or DAEP would be allowed to go - this means if your child got a detention they could still earn the reward party
3. No more than 2 unexcused absences - Parents/Guardians need to inform school every time a child is absent. Communication is key. If your child has been absent due to illness, please let our office ladies know.
4. Students could still fail and go to the party - This allows all students who are on different levels of learning and still progressing to attend. This also allows administration to find students who are struggling and help support students through our MTSS process.
ALL LATE WORK WILL BE DUE BY THE 5th FRIDAY OF THE SIX WEEKS. If the late work is from the first half of the six weeks, it will not be taken. With our district policy to allow 4 days to turn in late work and allow time for reteaching & retesting, students would not have the time to allow for these policies, if new assignments were assigned during the final week of a six weeks. This also helps with UIL eligibility timelines. Any new assignments that are assigned in the final week of the six weeks will be placed on the following six weeks grade book.
Interested in volunteering for school related events? Please download the attached VolunteerAppForm to get your information and background check completed in a timely manner. Please turn into central offices or MMS front office.
