Akron Middle School
November 2025
A Message from our Principal
Dear Families,
As autumn settles in, our school is buzzing with energy and learning. Students are engaged in meaningful lessons, building friendships, and demonstrating the values of respect and responsibility each day.
The first marking period will end on Thursday, November 7th, and it’s been wonderful to see the growth our students have made since the start of the school year. Please take some time to speak with your child and check the Parent Portal to ensure all assignments are completed and submitted. Staying on top of schoolwork now will give students the best chance for success as we move into the next quarter.
We are looking forward to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, which will be held on Tuesday, November 25th, from 4:30–7:30 PM, and Wednesday, November 26th, from 8:00–11:00 AM. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to connect, celebrate student progress, and discuss goals for the months ahead. We truly value the collaboration between home and school, as it plays such an important role in each student’s success.
We would also like to remind you that on Friday, November 3rd, from 1:30–2:30 PM, we will welcome representatives from the Erie County District Attorney’s Office to our auditorium for a special anti-bullying and cyberbullying presentation. This event aims to raise awareness, promote kindness, and empower our students to make safe and respectful choices both online and in person.
As we approach the Thanksgiving break, I hope you take time to relax, reflect, and enjoy special moments with family and friends. We are so grateful for our wonderful school community and for your partnership in supporting our students every day.
Thank you,
Mr. Caprio

A Note from Student Support
As you may know, October was Bullying Awareness Month, a time dedicated to promoting kindness, inclusion, and respect in our school community. To continue these important conversations, we will be holding an assembly with the District Attorney’s office in November focused on cyberbullying—what it is, how it affects others, and what students can do to stay safe and supportive online.
We encourage you to ask your children what they learned during the assembly and take a few minutes to discuss how they can help create a positive and respectful online environment. Together, we can help our students make smart choices and stand up against bullying in all its forms.
A Message from the SRO
November brings the end of the first marking periods and trimesters throughout the district. It is also the time of year when the leaves have mostly fallen, cooler weather, warmer foods, and busy holidays are approaching. During all of this, let's not forget some safety tips to help out.
- Don't be afraid to reach out for help for your kiddo if they are struggling. There are many resources in the school that can help keep, or get your kiddo on track.
- Never drive through piles of leaves on the side of the roadway, you never know what is in the pile, and if they are wet, it becomes extremely slippery.
- Deer are more active, be extra cautious, especially when it's dark and on country roads.
- If you have not already, begin preparing for the colder months at your home and in your vehicle.
- With daylight savings happening November 2nd, it will get darker sooner, and lighter later. Make sure your kiddo wears reflective or bright colors if walking to or from school. Flashlights are always good to have on hand as well.
Enjoy the good times, stay on track, reach out for resources and help if needed, and communicate with your kiddos!
