What's our Hamline Family-Staff organization up to?

Hamline Families and Community!

Are you looking for a chance to build good things in this world? A chance to put your energy towards a local effort where you can see the results of your work first-hand?

The Hamline Elementary Husky Pack may be your answer! The Husky Pack is our Parent/Teacher/Family/Community organization (PTA) who works to foster community, celebrate our diversity, and support our school staff and teachers.

We are made up of parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and community supporters who share a love for this awesome school.

In the past year, we have sponsored Family Nights, provided teacher/staff support (both physical and financial), provided teacher meals during conference time, held fundraisers, helped with the Spring Festival, and other behind the scenes support.

We have some graduations and transitions happening in the next few months would love some fresh energy and perspectives from anyone who is interested.

Opportunities to help out are varied and flexible.

Please reach out to Elizabeth Hosch (muller.elizabeth@gmail.com) with any questions or interest. We would love to work with you to find your right fit!

STEM Family Night: Thank You!

Hamline Elementary’s STEM Night with Capitol Region Watershed District was a great success! Students and families played environmentally themed games and completed activities, including a watershed demonstration and native seed planting with the MN Seed Project. The Bell Museum of Natural History provided interactive stations, and the Math Happens Foundation provided math games. We displayed student science projects, and over 50 students participated in a school-wide STEM Challenge, finding a new use for recycled materials by creating a new object or piece of art. Thanks to families, staff, and partners for making this event fun and educational!

(and thanks to our friend, Vicki from the Saint Paul Public Schools Title I Office for taking pictures!)

The longstanding collaboration between Hamline Elementary and Hamline University is a one-of-kind program in Saint Paul and the first of its kind in the nation. Whether you’re new to Hamline Elementary or have been here for a while, we’re excited to share the experiences that our Collaboration provides to this special community of learners!

The Hamline to Hamline Collaboration was hard at work in April organizing more unique learning experiences.

Hamline Elementary second graders had one very busy day working with Hamline University’s Business and Society class to create kindness cards for neighbors in the morning and playing a game of soccer with the women’s soccer team in the afternoon.

The Hamline University theater department treated first graders to a behind-the-scenes experience at the Anne Simley Theater on campus and yoga-practicing university students led first graders through yoga poses, breathing, and balance exercises in the Hamline Elementary gym.

In May we’re looking forward to an author event on campus for first-graders, kindergarten tours of Hamline University’s Bush Library, and our annual Onward and Beyond campus event for 5th graders.

We are also excited for our K-5 Field Day on May 9th in partnership with Hamline Athletics. Families are welcome to attend this energetic and joyful event between 10:00-11:30am on Klas Field on the Hamline University campus.

And as Hamline University's spring term comes to a close and college students move on to their summer plans, our Collaboration programs will begin to wind down. It’s also nearly time for Hamline University’s Commencement (May 17th) and the Hamline to Hamline Collaboration would like to congratulate all of this year's graduates, especially those who have been part of our programming and community during their time at Hamline University. These amazing college students add so much to our community and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors!

A quick reminder that many Hamline University events and activities are open to the public - please see the events calendar below for more information.

On behalf of the Hamline to Hamline Collaboration, thank you for your support. If you have questions about what we do or have ideas for what you’d like to see from this partnership, please reach out to our team!

We have the opportunity to attend a show at the Ordway again, thanks to one of our very own Hamline families. We will be attending a show that is part of the Flint Hills Family Festival. The show is called 360 All Stars. Here is a bit about the show:

"A phenomenal physical performance exploring all forms of rotation, 360 ALLSTARS connects the street with the elite to deliver a supercharged urban circus. Boasting a stellar cast of World Champion and World Record holding artists and athletes, 360 ALLSTARS is a spectacular fusion of the extraordinary artistry that emerges from street culture."
