October: Our School Is in Full Swing!
Dear Students, Families, Staff, and Community,
It is hard to believe that we have already reached the end of the first quarter of the school year! The calendar may tell us that we are only a few months into the year, but when I look around our campus, it is clear that so much is already happening. Our school is alive with learning, opportunity, activity, and—most importantly—students who are growing into the people they are becoming.
Our CTE Pathways are already in motion, and I could not be more excited about the opportunities our students are experiencing. These programs are designed to help students see the connection between what they are learning in the classroom and the possibilities that await them beyond high school in education and in industries where they have potential to become professionals.
Our Building Trades pathway is a great example. Students are already putting their skills to work, and we have sheds underway! Even more exciting, these sheds are available for purchase by members of our community. What a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience the entire process—from learning and designing to building and ultimately creating something that has real value beyond the classroom.
We have also brought back our Engineering program, and the response has been tremendous. Students are showing significant interest, and there is still room for those who would like to get involved as we continue to build! Engineering students will have opportunities to participate in experiences such as our Robotics Club, visit local businesses, and take field trips that help them understand how engineering connects directly to careers and the world of work. These experiences are exactly what we want for our students: opportunities to explore, ask questions, discover their interests, and begin imagining what their futures might look like.
One of the highlights of my month was having the tremendous opportunity to participate in our newly developed Student Senate meeting during WIN time. Students are coming together to discuss ideas and identify ways they can make our school community better and better. I have to tell you—listening to these students was inspiring!
The conversations were thoughtful. They were articulate. They were solution-oriented. Most importantly, they demonstrated how deeply our students care about their school and the community they are helping to create. I walked away from that experience feeling an incredible amount of pride in the young people we have on our campus.
Our students are motivated. They are creative. They are willing to step forward, share their ideas, take on challenges, and make a difference. They are discovering their voices and learning that they have the ability—and the responsibility—to contribute to something larger than themselves. I believe our community will be a better place because of them.
As educators, we know that negativity can sometimes rise to the surface. Challenges and concerns are real, and we should always be willing to listen, learn, and improve. But I also believe it is important that we pause and recognize the bigger picture of what is happening around us right now.
As of today, we have more than 2,200 students on our campus—and they are showing up and getting involved.
They are competing in sports.
They are participating in clubs and activities.
They are gathering at Food Faires and school events.
They are showing their school spirit at Husky Kickoff on Fridays before football games.
They are learning new skills.
They are exploring careers through our Pathways.
They are building things.
They are designing, creating, questioning, collaborating, and discovering.
They are making friends, making mistakes, learning from them, and growing.
School is in full swing. And that is something worth celebrating.
As we move into the next quarter, my hope is that we continue to focus on what is possible. Let’s continue to celebrate our students, support their ideas, create opportunities for them to lead, and remind them that their voices matter.
I am proud to be your Principal. I am proud of our students, grateful for our staff, and thankful for a community that continues to invest in the future of our young people.
With great optimism,
Leticia Bucio
