We had a quiet but productive week at Morris! Our third and fifth grade students finished their Math MCAS testing this week. Next Monday and Tuesday, our fifth graders will complete the Science MCAS. We are so proud of all of our students for their hard work, focus, and perseverance throughout the testing season.

To celebrate all of the hard work students have shown this school year, all students will enjoy an Ice Cream Social on Friday sponsored by our fantastic PTO. We are so grateful for their continued support and generosity!

Turn Off the Screen Week!

Thank you to all of the students and families who participated in Screen-Free Week! It was wonderful to see our community spending more time connecting, exploring, and engaging in activities beyond screens.

If your child completed a Screen-Free Passport, please remember that we are extending the turn-in deadline until the end of next week. Passports may be turned in to the LCC through next week, and the raffle drawing for prizes will take place on May 22.

We'd also love your feedback by filling out this survey! Your input helps us understand what worked well, what didn’t, and how we can make this community initiative even better next year. Whether your family participated a lot, a little, or not at all, your perspective is totally optional, valuable and appreciated. As we look forward to warmer weather, students are welcome to bring water bottles to school. We have water bottle filling stations available on each level of the building to help students stay hydrated throughout the day.

We’re excited to introduce our new Weekly Flyer Hub! This space will serve as a central, rolling collection of all flyers and announcements shared with families. Each week’s materials will be linked directly in the family newsletter, making it easier than ever to stay informed and access important information, events, and opportunities—all in one place. Be sure to check back regularly for updates!

The Morris PTO celebrates Morris elementary student birthdays with a special, monthly birthday lunch. At their lunch period, students with birthdays that month get a small ice cream or popsicle treat, a birthday sticker, and a little birthday prize. Here is the schedule for the PTO Birthday Lunches this school year:

June: Monday, June 1st

July: Friday, June 4th

Parents and caregivers with active CORIs on file can participate in the PTO birthday lunches by helping to hand out treats and prizes. If you’d like to volunteer to help at one or more of the PTO birthday lunches, please email Haley Holmes (haleykayeholmes@hotmail.com).

As we begin planning for our upcoming end-of-year events and activities, we want to remind families that any parent or guardian who plans to volunteer must have an up-to-date CORI and DCF background check on file with the school.

If you are interested in volunteering, please make sure your paperwork is completed ahead of time.

• If you already have a CORI on file, please check that it is still current.

• If this is your first time completing a CORI, please come to Morris School with a valid ID so we can process your form.
