Executive Director Spotlight
A New Year, A Fresh Start
Welcome back! Whether you're walking these halls for the first time or the tenth, there's something special about the start of a new school year; new tools, new friendships, and a whole year of possibility ahead.
We're especially excited to welcome some new faces to the WMCTC staff this year. Please join us in welcoming two veteran administrators, a second Carpentry teacher bringing 21 years of teaching experience, a third Health instructor, and our new Student Success Coordinator. We're thrilled to have their expertise and energy as part of our team this year.
And of course, we're just as excited for our students; ready to sharpen their skills, grow in their trade, and prepare to step confidently into the workforce after graduation. This is a place where hard work turns into real opportunity, and we can't wait to see what this year brings.
This newsletter will be your go-to spot for what's happening around school: important dates, staff updates, and the little moments that make our community what it is. Here's to a year full of curiosity, growth, and good stories to tell. Let's make it a great one!

Hooray to a new year!
Welcome, and welcome back, to another great school year at WMCTC!
We are excited to share a few new updates this year as we support our staff and students through the transition ahead. The first major change is our new administrative team. We know how beloved our predecessors were and that we have big shoes to fill, but we are thrilled to join the Wildcats family. While we are new to WMCTC, we bring experienced leadership and a deep passion for career and technical education, and we are eager to immerse ourselves in the incredible work happening across our classrooms!
We also know that transitioning to new platforms can bring unforeseen challenges and hiccups. We are truly grateful for everyone's patience as we navigate the learning curve of our new eSchool system together. Additionally, we recognize there have been a few slow starts due to technology connection issues, but we are working closely with our sending districts to ensure every student has seamless access to their classwork.
Our doors are always open, and we look forward to getting to know you and your family this year. Please never hesitate to reach out if you need anything!

WMCTC Main Entrance
The main entrance to the building is located at the front of the building between the restaurant and the playground. All students who are not riding the bus must use this entrance. Parents/Guardians can drop off and pick up students through this entrance. Cars should not be traveling through the bus lanes to pick up or drop off students.
The main entrance will be open at 7:50 each morning during a regularly scheduled day. Students arriving prior to 7:50 will wait outside until the doors are opened.
All visitors will also use this entrance. Visitors must have a driver's license which will be scanned prior to access to the programs. A visitor badge will be provided which must be worn the entire time in the building.
From the Attendance Office
- A parent/guardian should report an intended absence from school by emailing attendance@westerncenter.org
- Physical notes or emails are accepted. If a parent/guardian leaves a voicemail message, the absence will remain unexcused until we receive a written excuse.
- Written excuse must be received by WMCTC Attendance office within (3) school days after returning to school to excuse the absence.
Advanced Notification of Extended Absence - use this form for absences that will be for three (3) or more days (i.e., vacations, educational trips, etc)
Absences for two (2) days or less can be submitted using a parent/guardian note or email
- High Schools are not responsible for forwarding notes to WMCTC.
- Please read the JOC 204 Attendance Policy for more information
Co-Op Corner
We know our students are excited to begin or return to their Co-Op placements. Thank you for your patience as we spend these first two weeks of school completing mandatory classroom safety trainings and covering essential course information before heading into the workforce.
Next Steps for the Week of August 31:
Returning Co-Op Students: The Co-Op Coordinator will meet with last year's returning students to finalize paperwork and review placement procedures. Listen for an announcement regarding meeting times.
New Co-Op Students: An overview of the Co-Op program will be presented at the student assembly on Thursday. In the next few days following the assembly, the Coordinator will meet individually with any interested students to begin the process.
