May & June 2025

Superior Community Preschool 4K Program

May & June2025Superior Community Preschool 4K Program

4K in May

May is HERE and it will go by so fast!

May is filled with caterpillars and butterflies... bugs and insects... frogs and turtles... and of course talking a LOT about Kindergarten! The Kindergarten transition process is not over, even though we've already had the K Transition Night. The month of May is when teachers are reading stories about Kindergarten, watching the video tours of elementary schools, and making crafts/activities to get kids excited about their future Kindergarten school!

If you're still looking into ideas for your little ones this summer, see what community options are available below! We want to let kids be kids and play and enjoy summer; however, if you're working and need to find somewhere safe for them to play - there are many options available throughout our community!

Great Lakes 4K with Ms. Riedasch

There have been so many amazing & exciting things happening here at Great Lakes! We won our school-wide food drive & enjoyed a pizza party! We are strengthening our bodies by learning the crab crawl & other SMART exercises.! We also have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly & watching our class caterpillars make a chrysalis and hatch into butterflies.. We are having so much fun making letters in different ways, but our favorite is with shaving cream. We can’t wait to see what fun is in store for the Spring!

YMCA 4K w/ Ms. Paige

These past few weeks I have been getting to know my new students as I am now the long term sub for the rest of the school year. We are exploring the world of camping in our dramatic play area. We are also working hard on learning about what goes into recycling bins and what needs to go into the trash! We are splish, splashing on Tuesdays and Thursday in the pool. It’s time to BLAST OFF towards summer with students learning about construction, large machines, and outerspace.

Free Movie, “Just a Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers”

Join us at the library on May 19 at 6 p.m. and relive the magic of the Milwaukee Brewers’ 1982 season with a free showing of the new documentary, “Just a Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers.” This movie chronicles the ups-and-downs of an almost-Championship season of this unique, eclectic group of ballplayers, who played hard on and off the field, forming a brotherhood that came within a whisper of baseball’s greatest pinnacle. “Just a Bit Outside” tells the story of how this team of talented misfits gave Milwaukee – in the midst of factory closures and a recession – something to cheer about.

This film features interviews with players, ownership and staff, including Hall of Famers Robin Yount, Ted Simmons, Paul Molitor, Rollie Fingers, Bud Selig, and Bob Uecker. Also interviewed for the film are 2-time American League Home Run Champion and Associate Producer Gorman Thomas, Cy Young Award-winner Pete Vuckovich, 5-time All-Star Cecil Cooper, and other key members of the 1982 American League Championship team.

Lake Superior Zoo summer day camps provide a fun and safe setting where youth can make both human and animal friends!

Each camp features animal encounters, hands-on activities, crafts, and games that focus on inspiring children to care about wildlife, conservation, and the natural world. From Cub Club to Zoo Troop to Eco-Explorers, each level of camp exposes children to different opportunities as their learning levels progress. When they reach their teen years, youth can participate in Zoo Crew to gain a real-world understanding of what it’s like to work with animals and visitors at a zoo.
