Morning Arrival to School

Greetings!

I hope that you all had an enjoyable holiday season and a very happy new year. Our students had a smooth transition back to school on Monday January 5th and we are looking forward to settling back into our school routines.

A big part of our school routine is our morning drop off and arrival procedures. Students are most successful when the morning routine is consistent. Here are some reminders and suggestions to help establish a smooth arrival to school.

Please review the information below:

  • Doors open at 8:30 daily.
  • All students must be in the building by 8:45 AM to be considered on time.
  • If students arrive after 8:45 AM, parents/guardians must sign their child in at the main office and provide a reason for the tardy.
  • As per district policy, excessive lateness can result in an unlawful absence.
  • We strongly encourage all families who are provided a bus to take advantage of the service to ensure children are arriving to school on time.
  • Breakfast is free for all students in the SASD so please take advantage of this service to save you some time in the morning.

Here are some additional tips from our school counselor Mrs. Panachyda:

  • Put backpacks and school materials by the front door the night before.
  • Let children set out their outfits the night before school.
  • Get yourself ready before your kids get up. This gives you time for yourself and your child!
  • Use visuals and checklists to support organization in your family routines.
  • Set a daily alarm for your kids. Set expectations that promote independence.
  • Keep your morning routines simple.
  • Pack school lunches the night before.
  • Set alarms five minutes before you need to leave in the mornings.
  • Have your child shower or bathe the night before to save time in the AM.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us. As always, please reach out if we can assist you in any way. I hope to see you at our January Home & School meeting tomorrow night at 7:00 PM in the school Library. I will also be offering tours of our newly updated classrooms at the Home and School meeting tomorrow night.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Susan Hadfield, Principal

Mr. Smith uses these printers to create small prizes which can be earned during computer science! Now - WBS has the ability to print faster AND in different colors!
