Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, August 27th, 2026
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Welcome to the start of the 2026–2027 school year! Seeing all of the smiles and feeling the energy of our students walking through the doors for the first days of school was magical. We captured many of those moments and wanted to be sure to share with you!
As we open our doors to a fresh season of learning, growth, and new beginnings, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible community. These past few days have shown us the true heart of Mill Valley. Navigating the heartbreaking loss of our beloved staff member has not been easy, but the outpouring of love from our families has sustained us. From the uplifting notes of encouragement to the amazingly stocked staff lounge, every single gesture helped us feel deeply supported, seen, and cared for during a truly difficult time. Your kindness provided light exactly when our staff needed it most.
This overwhelming support is a powerful reminder of who we are. Mill Valley isn't just a building where children come to learn—Mill Valley is a FAMILY. Like any strong family, we lean on one another, celebrate together, and lift each other up through life's hardest moments. Seeing our community wrap its arms around our school has reaffirmed how blessed we are to walk this journey alongside all of you.
As we step into this new school year together, we carry that spirit of unity and love into everything we do. Thank you for your unwavering partnership, your compassion, and for making Mill Valley such a special place for our students to grow.
In Partnership,
Allyce Harris
MV Principal
Help your Child Succeed in School: Build the Habit of Good Attendance Early
What you Can Do...
• Set a regular bedtime and morning routine
• Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before
• Keep your child healthy by having a good breakfast
• Develop backup plans for getting to school if something comes up (call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent)
• Try to schedule non-urgent related medical appointments and extended trips when school isn’t in session
• If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors and other parents for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable and excited about learning
• If you are concerned that your child may have a contagious illness, call your school or health care provider for advice

Birthday Treat Policy
Birthdays can be very special and exciting days. It is a time to celebrate “us” with friends and family. As a school, we want to continue recognizing our students’ special day while also being sensitive to medical needs and financial hardships. As a friendly reminder, MNSD does not allow edible treats for birthdays. Students, teachers, and parents will collaborate to choose an appropriate non-food celebration option for each child. Student's birthdays will be recognized during the morning announcements.
Birthday Invitations
On the topic of birthdays, the distribution of invitations to parties and/or birthday presents may not occur at school. It creates a distraction from learning and hurt feelings for those students who are not included. Unless you are able to invite all children from his/her class to a birthday celebration, please do not send invitations to school for distribution.
Policy on Electronic Devices at School
While some elementary students might have personal communication devices (cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, etc), they must be turned off and kept out of sight during school hours (from the morning bell to dismissal).
Because student lockers do not lock, we strongly encourage leaving all electronic devices at home. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call the main office.

Parent Square
Back in March, the Muskego Norway District shared the exciting news that we are transitioning to ParentSquare as our new district-wide communication platform. We are now ready to take the next step, and we need your help to get connected! In the coming days, you will receive an email and/or text invitation to activate your ParentSquare account. What You Need to Do
- Look for the Invite: Keep an eye on your inbox or text messages for an invitation from ParentSquare.
- Click the Link: Follow the prompts in the invitation to verify your contact information and create your password.
- Download the App: While you can use ParentSquare on a web browser, we highly recommend downloading the free ParentSquare app (available for iOS and Android) to stay connected on the go
To see exactly what the registration process looks like—including how to verify your account, enter your verification code, and confirm your children's names—please review our ParentSquare Getting Started Guide.
