Dear BCJ Families 🏫🖤💛

As we move into the final quarter of the school year, we are grateful for the energy and excitement this season brings. Your partnership, dedication, and continued support are essential as we work together to ensure a strong and successful finish for our students.

Please review the following important updates and upcoming events:

Spring Concert Update:
Due to voting that took place in our building on April 7, the Spring Concert featuring our Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 4th Grade students has been rescheduled for April 28, 2026. We look forward to celebrating our students’ talents with you on this new date.

Sneaker Ball – April 17:
Our Annual Sneaker Ball is quickly approaching! We appreciate your support in making this a fun and memorable experience for our students. Please take a moment to complete the Google Form to assist with food and event preparations.

MAP Testing Update:
Please note that MAP (grade-level) assessments have been rescheduled to begin on April 21, 2026. We ask that you help your child prepare by ensuring they get a good night’s rest, arrive to school on time, and come ready to do their best each day.

As we move through this important time of year, your support in reinforcing consistent attendance, positive routines, and a strong mindset at home makes a meaningful difference.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for being an important part of the BCJ community.

We encourage you to take advantage of an upcoming opportunity to connect with valuable supports in our community by attending the District Spring Resource Fair. This event is a great way for families to access a variety of resources, including educational support, health and wellness services, summer programming, and community organizations all in one place.

Join us for our next CommUNITY Chat on Monday, May 4, at 5:30 p.m. in the Jackson Park gymnasium; and come ready to be part of the conversation. We’ll share a hands-on overview of our newly adopted K-5 mathematics and 6-8 ELA-R curricular resources, plus critical updates on legislative changes, including the Governor’s executive order for an A-F grading system. Your voice matters, and this is your opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and stay informed.

Can’t make it? Reach out directly; I’d love to connect. To register, please click here.

Our annual Growing Together event, typically held in April, will be postponed this year due to construction in our new sustainability kitchen. In the meantime, we invite you to enjoy U. City in Bloom’s Spring Plant Sale, April 24–26 at the Heman Park Community Center. The weekend begins with “Party with the Plants” on Friday from 5:00–7:00 p.m., followed by a public sale Saturday and Sunday featuring a variety of native plants. Proceeds support the care and beautification of community gardens and planters.

Be sure to visit Brittany Brand, our student-led group from Brittany Woods Middle School, who will be selling sustainability-focused, homemade products.

We look forward to welcoming you to an even bigger Growing Together event in 2027!

Parent registration is now open!

We encourage all families to complete the registration process as soon as possible to ensure your child’s enrollment is up to date for the upcoming school year. Please use the link below to access the registration portal and submit your information:

Even in times of sorrow, we remain grounded in the importance of connection, voice, and community. Dr. Hardin-Bartley is proud to share a new episode of From the Heart of U. City, a podcast dedicated to uplifting the stories and experiences that make our district so special. In this episode, she had the pleasure of sitting down with UCHS senior and Board of Education Student Representative, Whitaker Staudt.

Whitaker is an extraordinary young man whose involvement in Big Brothers Big Sisters, National Honor Society, Student Council, soccer, and more speaks to his commitment to leadership and service. Dr. Hardin-Bartley has known Whitaker since he was in second grade, and it has been a joy for her to watch him grow and lead. She encourages you to take a moment to listen and hear his perspective on his journey in our schools and his service on the Board this year.

Dear U City Families,

It’s that time again to complete the annual Panorama Survey. We value your feedback and encourage all families to participate. Please complete the survey for the school your child(ren) attend.

Click here to access the survey.

The deadline to submit your responses is April 17, 2026.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Missouri State Law (Senate Bill 68) requires all public school districts to prohibit students from using or displaying personal electronic communication devices during the school day. This includes:

Cell phones
Smartwatches
Tablets and laptops
Wireless headphones or earbuds (like Beats Bluetooth/Wi-Fi headphones)

What this means in practice:
During the regular school day (from the first bell to dismissal), students generally must keep wireless headphones turned off and stored in a backpack or locker. They typically cannot be worn or visible in class, lunch, recess, or passing periods.

At BCJ, we truly value your time and want to ensure that every conversation with our administration team is thoughtful, focused, and productive. To help us serve you efficiently and minimize wait times, we kindly ask that families schedule an appointment in advance when requesting to meet with a member of the administrative team.

Please contact our Office Professional, Ms. Doyle, who will be happy to assist you in securing a convenient appointment time at 314-290-4361.

Thank you for your partnership and for helping us maintain an organized and supportive environment for all.

We are excited to partner with Right At School to provide high-quality before and after school care for the 2026–27 school year.

Right At School offers a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where students can participate in homework help, educational activities, creative projects, and structured play, all led by trained and caring staff. Their programs are designed to support working families while extending learning beyond the school day.

Families interested in enrolling for the upcoming school year are encouraged to visit the Right At School website to review program details, registration information, daily schedules, and tuition rates. Early registration is recommended to secure your child’s spot.
