Brief Message From the Principal

It has been a busy and exciting few weeks at Hansen Jr./Sr. High! From Homecoming and Senior Nights to Halloween fun and the everyday successes happening in our classrooms, there is a lot to celebrate. One thing that continues to stand out is the Husky Pride shown by our students, staff, families, and community. Whether you fill the stands, support an activity, donate to our book drive, or encourage our students from home, your involvement makes a difference.

As we look ahead, we also hope our community will join us for our District-Wide Veterans Day Assembly on November 11. This is an important opportunity for our students, staff, and community to come together to recognize and honor the veterans who have served our country.

Thank you for continuing to show up for our students and support our Huskies! πŸΎπŸ’š

Husky Howl

A huge Husky Howl goes out to our incredible community for showing up and making Homecoming and our Volleyball and Football Senior Nights so special!

It was amazing to see our stands filled with families, students, alumni, and community members supporting our Huskies. The energy, involvement, and school pride throughout these events are what make Hansen such a special place. Whether you cheered from the stands, helped behind the scenes, participated in Homecoming activities, or simply showed up to support our students, you helped create memories they will carry long after the season ends. Senior Night is always bittersweet as we celebrate students who have given so much to their teams and our school. Seeing our community come together to recognize them made those evenings even more meaningful.

We are incredibly grateful for the way our community continues to rally around our students and our school. That is Husky Pride, and we loved seeing it on full display! Go Huskies! πŸΎπŸ’š

πŸ“š Help Us Fill Our Shelves! Project Succeed Book Drive πŸ“š

Project Succeed is sponsoring a Book Drive to support the Hansen Jr./Sr. High School Library, and we would love our community’s help! We are collecting new or gently used books to add directly to our high school library collection for students to enjoy.

A library filled with current, engaging, high-interest books matters. When students can find books that connect with their interests, experiences, and reading levels, they are more likely to pick up a book, keep reading, and discover something they truly enjoy. Your donations will help us keep our collection updated and give students more choices.

πŸ“– What: New or gently used books
πŸ“ Where: Drop-off box located in front of Hansen Jr./Sr. High School
πŸ’š Why: To put more great books directly into the hands of our students!

Clean off those bookshelves, find a few favorites your family is ready to pass along, or donate something new. Every book helps us build a stronger library for our Huskies! Thank you to Project Succeed for sponsoring the drive and to our community for continuing to support our students! πŸ’š

🐾 PBIS Update: Building Husky Pride

At Hansen, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is one way we intentionally build a positive school culture. PBIS focuses on teaching, recognizing, and reinforcing the behaviors we want to see, rather than only responding when something goes wrong. Our schoolwide expectations are simple: Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Ready to Learn. These expectations give our students a common understanding of what it means to be a Husky, whether in the classroom, hallways, activities, athletics, or throughout our community.

One strength of PBIS is that Tier 1 supports are designed for all students and should support the large majority of our student body. Currently, about 99% of our students are responding successfully to our Tier 1 supports. That is something worth celebrating! It means the overwhelming majority of our students are meeting schoolwide expectations without needing more intensive behavioral supports.

We also believe positive choices deserve recognition. Through Husky Howls, Husky Bucks, PBIS celebrations, extended lunches, and other incentives, we recognize students who demonstrate our 3 Rs and contribute positively to our school. PBIS isn't simply about rewards. It is about creating a school where expectations are clear, positive behavior is acknowledged, students feel connected, and everyone understands that they play a role in our school culture.

Every time a student helps someone, shows respect, makes a responsible choice, works through a challenge, or comes to class ready to learn, they are demonstrating Husky Pride. Those moments happen throughout our school every day, and they are worth celebrating!

πŸŽƒ Trick or Treat the Hallways

Something we do every yearβ€”and something our students look forward toβ€”is Trick or Treat the Hallways at the high school. Students show up in costumes (or not!), and we take a few moments to have fun and keep building relationships with our students. We play Halloween music, pass out candy, laugh at costumes, and create positive interactions between students and staff outside of the normal classroom setting. It may seem like a small tradition, but these moments help build connection, belonging, and a positive school culture.

Our students work hard, and we believe it's important to create opportunities to simply enjoy being together as a school. Traditions like Trick or Treat the Hallways have become part of who we are at Hansen, and another fun way to show a little Husky Pride!

Happy Halloween, Huskies! πŸŽƒπŸΎ
