We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Fall Break filled with rest, relaxation, and time with family and friends! We're excited to welcome our Falcons back for the second nine weeks as we continue learning & growing. October is packed with exciting activities, special events, and opportunities to celebrate our Farley community!
October Events & Reminders
October 13 – Dyslexia Awareness Day: Wear RED as we raise awareness, celebrate the strengths of students with dyslexia, and promote understanding of different ways students learn.
October 16 – Report Cards: First nine weeks report cards will be issued.
October 19 – Microwave Dave Concert: Our Falcons will enjoy a special musical performance!
October 20 – 2nd Grade Field Trip
October 22 – Weather Drill: Students and staff will practice our severe weather safety procedures.
Beginning October 25 – Red Ribbon Week: Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign encouraging students to make healthy, safe, and drug-free choices. Throughout the week, we'll reinforce the importance of making good decisions, developing positive habits, and taking care of ourselves and others.
🎃 October 30 – PTA Trunk or Treat!
One of our favorite Farley traditions is almost here! Our PTA Trunk or Treat is always a highlight of the fall season, bringing our school community together for an evening of costumes, decorated vehicles, candy, and plenty of Halloween fun! We're looking forward to another fantastic event for our Falcons and their families.
WE NEED YOUR CANDY DONATIONS! 🍬
As always, we are asking our wonderful Farley families to help make this event a success by donating bags of individually wrapped candy. Donations may be dropped off at school leading up to the event.
A huge thank-you to our PTA and all the families who help make this special tradition possible. We can't wait to see everyone at Trunk or Treat!
We did it!
MEGA Blast
MEGA Blast Shout-outs!What an incredible day for our Farley Falcons! Together, our families raised over $21,000, which will directly support students and teachers through tutoring, additional staffing, and teacher planning opportunities.
A huge thank-you to our Farley teachers and staff, custodians, parent volunteers, Grissom volunteers, and the AAMU Women’s Basketball Team for helping make the day run so smoothly. Special thanks to Mr. Brian Lane for jumping in wherever needed and to Ms. Kerri and the MEGA Blast team for bringing such a fun event to Farley.
Most importantly, thank you to our Farley families. Your generosity, volunteering, and support made all of this possible. Our kids had an absolute blast, and we are incredibly grateful for our Farley community!
Continuously Improving!
Each year, we use our spring ACAP results and beginning-of-year (BOY) data to develop our instructional priorities for the new school year. Farley is currently finalizing our HCS Success Plan, which guides much of our work, and our Alabama Continuous Improvement Plan (ACIP), which is closely aligned with the Success Plan and meets state and accreditation requirements.
We invite you to review both plans to learn more about Farley’s performance, goals, and priorities. We also value your input! Please send any feedback or recommendations to Dr. Thorson.
PTA Membership Challenge
Farley and our neighbor school, Chaffee, are competing this year for 100% PTA Membership.
Join the Farley PTA – Just $7!
Support our students, encourage our teachers, and help make great things happen at Farley. Your $7 membership makes a difference, and everyone is welcome to join—parents, grandparents, family members, and community supporters.
