Stowe's Sticky Notes
THANK YOU so much to each and every one of you for registering for our PTA Fun Run Fundraiser, sharing links, getting pledges, and coming out support our kiddos in this run. Together our community raised more than $85,000 for our school. That money will go towards supporting our students and our campus. One of our new big projects will be to add padded mats to our gym walls!
We would not be able to do this and keep these funds here at LSE without our amazing PTA Board and Fundraising Committee. They have basically worked full-time jobs over the past few weeks hyping up kiddos and parents, ordering and planning prizes, delivering prizes each morning, tracking donations and pledges, setting up and tearing down the run, etc. It is a HUGE undertaking and I am go grateful for their leadership and their support throughout this process.
I also want to say thank you for everyone coming out to our Open House and seeing all of the great things that our students are learning and the great culture and lessons that our teachers and staff have created. Each time I visit classrooms during my observations or hear teachers share data at a team meeting I am reminded of how much time and effort each of them pours into our students to make sure that they grow.
I am so honored to get to work in such an amazing school and community like Lone Star.
Next week we will get to see another amazing part of our school in our Veteran's Day program on Tuesday. Our 4th graders have been diligently preparing to honor our nation's veterans.

Nurse's Corner
We are starting to notice a rise in flu cases here at Lone Star Elementary. Please be mindful of your child's symptoms and as always talk with your primary care provider if you have any concerns. Common flu symptoms are but not limited to:
Fever
Headache
Cough
Fatigue
Body aches
Sore throat
Digestive issues
Chills
Sneezing
Runny/stuffy nose
There are prescription flu antiviral medications that can be used to treat flu symptoms, but those need to be started as early as possible. The CDC recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older get an annual flu vaccine, ideally by the end of October. I hope everyone stays healthy during this flu season!
Dismissal Notes
Dismissal Notes & START and END Times
If you arrive after 8:15am, you will need to park in the parking lot and escort your children inside for a tardy pass. Students may not be dropped off.
Transportation changes can be made through PikMyKid up until 2pm each day.
The last time to check out a student early is 3:00pm. If you have an emergency, please contact the front office.
School ends each day 3:40pm and dismissal begins at that time. Please keep these times and the time it takes to dismiss all students in mind as you register students for extra-curricular activities.
At dismissal, if you need to buckle a child into a seat for car rider, after your child is safely in the car, please pull forward into a visitor parking spot so that you can safely buckle in your child and keep our line moving.
DISMISSAL INFO- BUS, CAR RIDER, WALK-UPS
Bus Transportation & SMART TAGS
You should be able to access your child's bus route information through Skyward Family Access and through the SMART Tag parent app on your phone or online portal. If you have questions about bus transportation you can reach out to our transportation department at 936-276-2300.
Please know that depending on when we receive the new Bus tags for this year, SMART TAGS not be ready to implement on the first day of school. However, transportation should be able to manually tap students on and off via their tablets.
Car Rider and PikMyKid
Lone Star Elementary uses the PikMyKid program to track a student's primary method of transportation, to allow parents to change transportation methods, as a dispatch system for all students, and as an announcement feature for car-riders. It is important for all families to have this app downloaded with your students' linked.
PikMyKid is especially important for Car Riders as the parent will announce their arrival on the app once you've reached the designated area of the car rider line (If you don't know where that is, don't worry there's a big sign.) This will tell your child and their teacher that they can head to the loading area inside the school for dismissal. Anyone who picks your child up from school (grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.) should have the PikMyKid app downloaded and ready to go for pick-up. If someone is unable to use the app or does not have the required pick-up tag, they will have to park and check out the student from the office. This also slows down the car rider line so please have everyone prepared when it's their turn to pick up your child.
Please download the PikMyKid App from the Apple App store or the Google Play store and try to create an account from the phone # you have provided to us. If you are having any trouble creating an account, we can help you. Instead of sending an email, please complete this form as a ticket system so that we can quickly track who has been helped and who still needs assistance. Newly registered students/parents may not immediately be entered into PikMyKid due to the Skyward update times. The information for new families has been sent to PikMyKid for upload into the system. If you don't get an email from PikMyKid by Meet the Teacher, please don't worry; complete the form and we can manually add you to the PikMyKid system.
Click Here for the troubleshooting form so we can work on your concerns. PikMyKid will ONLY work on the phone numbers you have provided as part of your registration as a specific safety precaution, if you need to update those phone numbers you will need to complete it in Skyward Family Access in addition to completing the troubleshooting form.
