Preparing Students for College, Careers, and Success after High School
Be a CTAE Pathway Completer
Opportunities available for ALL students
What is a CTAE Pathway?
A pathway is a series of three specialized courses that provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed after high school. These courses expose students to careers, teach them employability skills, and prepare them to enter the workforce, a university, a technical college, military service, or a registered apprenticeship. A pathway completer is a student who satisfactorily completes all three courses in the same pathway. Students can complete more than one pathway in high school. Pathway completers are more prepared to enter the workforce , and CTAE prepares students for careers that are high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand.
What is Work-based Learning?
WBL connects classroom learning to the workplace through courses, activites, and employment with community partners. The goal of WBL is to help students develop skills that can be applied in the workplace and postsecondary education.

JCHS Wins Second Place in the GSBA Student Video Contest
The Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) is thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s Student Video Contest!
GSBA sponsors a student video contest for public high school students across the state. This year’s theme, “Our Schools, Our Stories: Celebrating Public Education,” invited students to share the unique and powerful stories that make their school experiences special.
The GSBA Awards committee, comprised of board of education members from all over Georgia, evaluated the videos based on how well they addressed the theme, as well as the quality of production and creativity. Each video was limited to one minute and produced solely by students without professional assistance. Students were free to choose their preferred format, including commercial, news broadcast, or music video. This year, 29 verified videos were submitted.
The top three videos will be showcased during the Awards Session at the GSBA/GSSA Annual Conference on December 13, 2024. Prizes include $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, and $250 for third, with winnings directed to the high school’s fine arts or video production program.

Washington Park Elementary hosts the Georgia Ag Experience
The Georgia Ag Experience is a mobile classroom powered by the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture. The 36-foot classroom showcases Georgia Agriculture on the road, and uses technology and digital learning so that students can take a deep-dive into seven different Georgia agricultural commodities. The Georgia Ag Experience seeks to inspire the next generation about the importance of agriculture with a S.T.E.M based educational program. Through this program, students are able to gain a better understanding and become an advocate of agriculture, learn about technology and the future of farming, and recognize their role and identify future career opportunities. This was a great program for our STEAM and CTAE classes to team up together to offer to all fifth graders at Washington Park. Emily Wilder and Ashley Clegg hosted this 2-day event which started with an educational lesson prior to the experience, a 1 hour in-person experience with digital and hands-on activities, followed by a 1 post visit ag career research project. All curriculum was developed by professors in The University of Georgia in the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. The lesson plans meet Georgia state standards and incorporate STEM teaching practices. WPES students loved being a part of this wonderful experience!
