May Weekly Vinal Voice

We will be saying farewell to two beloved educators as they transition to new roles at Norwell Middle School. Mrs. Cavanagh, our Librarian will be taking over the middle school library, and Dr. Pedro, our Literacy Specialist, will continue her work at the middle school level. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work, passion, and the many ways they have enriched the Vinal School community. We wish them both continued success in their new roles.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Ryan will continue to teach technology lessons at Vinal and will also provide time for book checkout for students in kindergarten through fifth grade, with a dedicated 15-minute checkout period.

As we approach the end of the year, we kindly ask families to check at home for any Vinal School library books and return them to school as soon as possible. Your help in keeping our library collection complete is much appreciated.

Lastly, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to three incredible members of our community who will be entering retirement:

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make the day a blast — and a few brave souls willing to take the plunge in our dunk tank! Show Your Appreciation for Vinal Staff! We are loving all the amazing donations thus far - from custom art, to red sox tickets, to monetary donations - we are so appreciative - and the teachers are going to be over-the-moon! As a reminder we're organizing an End-of-Year Staff Raffle during the final week of school. Every staff member will receive raffle tickets for a chance to win fun prizes—a small gesture to show how much they mean to us. We’re accepting donations of raffle items or monetary contributions (on the website or venmo @vinalpto) to make this event special. Contributions can be dropped off at 15 Old Oaken Bucket. Thank you for helping us make this a memorable send-off for our incredible team!

Gratitude Garden! This week is the last chance to submit letters of gratitude for the teachers online - the wall is really blooming - let's fill all the blank space! This is a wonderful way to highlight the impact of our staff as we wrap up the school year.

You can submit your appreciation notes via the PTO website, have your child write a note in the lobby or take a flower home and bring it back. Feel free to recognize a specific teacher or staff member—or keep it general. Either way, your words will mean so much!

5th Grade Families!!

Cue the dramatic music. We are only 11 days away from the 5th Grade Send Off Ceremony and AFTER PARTY. Woohoo! Here are the key logistics:

• WHO: All fifth grade students and their immediate family
• WHAT: Send Off Ceremony and AFTER PARTY
• WHEN: Thursday, June 12th, 2025
• Student Arrival is 5:45PM
• Ceremony Start Time is 6:00PM
• WHERE: Students should meet their teacher in the Vinal Library, Families should enter through the gym doors and find their seats in the gym
• DRESS: Whatever your fifth grader considers their "Fifth Grade Finest." There are no caps or gowns, and the t-shirts are not necessary. I suggest something similar to school concert attire, with the ability to move and turn up the fun on the dance floor.

The After Party starts immediately following the end of the ceremony around 6:45PM and ends promptly at 8:45pm. So far, we have received 85 (out of 110) RSVP/consent forms. Just a reminder that students will not be allowed to attend the After Party if they do not have a form completed.

Vinal Book Bee Finale!!

It's been an amazing year for our hard working readers and we are all SO excited to see who the champs of the 2024/2025 Vinal Book Bee will be!

As you know, the Vinal Book Bee is Vinal's beloved reading & trivia competition for 5th grade students! Students are given an optional list of 50 books to enjoy throughout the year and then tested on their knowledge of the stories over a period of 3 rounds. It helps foster a love of reading, helps students build upon memory and study skills while enjoying a little friendly competition!

Grade 5 Finale is June 6! A few volunteers are needed and all Grade 5 parents are invited to come!
