The Eagle Express

Week of: September 25, 2026

The Eagle ExpressWeek of: September 25, 2026

A Note:

Greetings, Eagle Families!

Wow! We have already surpassed the $25,000 mark for fundraising for the Fun Run! It's been a great week with earned incentives (depending on the grade level) -- crazy hair day, extra recess, scooter races, pajama day, disco dance parties, no homework passes and more. There's a lot of "fun" energy in the building!

Enjoy this weekend as the temps cool and we get ready to welcome October! And, of course, Go Brew Crew!

Yours in Learning,

Angela Patterson, principal

Matt Stich, associate principal

Safety & Visiting School

Student safety is always our top priority, and a few simple systems help us know who's in the building at any given time.

  • Security staff: We are fortunate at Ronald Reagan to have Mr. Eric and Mr. Tim, our security team from Secure Resources Unlimited. Every day, we will have at least one of them onsite from before school until the end of the day.

  • Visitor badges (RAPTOR): anyone entering Reagan while students are present needs to check in at the front office for a RAPTOR visitor's badge. Bring a driver's license or passport to be scanned. For school-wide events during the day, we'll often send a sign-up link in Eagle Express so your badge is pre-printed and ready when you arrive.

  • Volunteering: sign in at the office for a RAPTOR sticker or badge, just like any visitor. All school volunteers — anyone supervising or working directly with students — must also have a completed background check on file (see below).

  • Background checks: required for any volunteer who supervises or works directly with students before, during, or after school hours, per Board Policies 3121 and 8120. The district uses Secure Volunteer, powered by the Background Investigation Bureau (BIB), to run these checks. It's a multi-step process that can take a few weeks, so it's worth starting well before you're hoping to volunteer. Apply through this Volunteer link on the SDNB website, and if you're not sure whether yours is current, just ask the office.

  • Lost & found: located just to the right of the gym doors. It fills up fast, so if your student is missing something, have them check sooner rather than later. Unclaimed items are donated at the end of each quarter.

  • Forgotten items: if you need to drop something off during the day (lunch, forgotten homework, etc.), leave it on the cart in the lobby labeled with your student's name and teacher, and send a quick email to the teacher so they know to look for it. We'll bring it in and let your student know it's ready whenever it's convenient for the teacher.

Eagles Fun Run -- Match Opportunity!

Exciting news! After our first week of fundraising, we are already halfway to our goal, and an anonymous donor has generously pledged to match the next $25,000 raised through this
year’s Fun Run!

At the donor’s request, this additional $25,000 will be directed specifically toward our playground replacement initiative.

Please note that this matching donation will not count toward the $50,000 Fun Run fundraising goal or the classroom incentive tiers. Instead, it provides an incredibly generous additional boost toward replacing our playgrounds.

For clarity, our $50,000 Fun Run fundraising goal was established to cover next school year’s HSA operating budget and does not include playground replacement costs.

We are incredibly grateful for this generous opportunity to make progress toward both priorities!

Let’s GO EAGLES!

Supporting Purposeful & Responsible Technology Use at Home

Turn Commutes into "Carpool Conversations"

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Finding low-pressure ways to talk with your children about technology and screen time can be tough. Common Sense Media makes it easier with Carpool Conversations—a series of short, bite-sized audio prompts designed to spark quick discussions about digital life during your daily drive.

Each clip is under two minutes and uses playful prompts like "Would You Rather?" or "Two Truths and a Lie" to explore real digital dilemmas in an engaging way.

Why Try It?

  • Zero Prep: Just press play on the way to school, practice, or errands.

  • Low Pressure: Gets kids talking without feeling like they are being lectured.

  • Covers Real Topics: Prompts address online kindness, screen time, privacy, and gaming habits.

Tune in during your next drive to turn commute time into meaningful family connection! This month check out the following:
