LSOA and Stride K12 Texas schools use a "browser" based online school. This means all a student needs is a laptop or desktop computer with access to Google Chrome or Firefox to begin. Students do not need to wait for the printer or their materials to arrive to begin school.

First day of school must haves in 3 easy steps:

  1. Laptop or Desktop with cam and microphone/headphones with mic
  2. Google Chrome internet browser: details below
  3. Their Student Log in Information created by you, the Learning Coach: instructions below

Instructions in 3 steps below

Step 1: Laptop or Desktop computer Step 1: Laptop or Desktop computer

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

🔸LSOA students do not automatically receive a laptop.

🔸Laptops are approved based on economic need.

🔸All laptop approvals or denials are sent to the email you provided during enrollment. Always check your spam and junk folders for these emails.

  • If your student has been confirmed as receiving services from Special Education, your student will automatically qualify for a computer and this will be shipped automatically.

Check on your student's laptop approval status here: https://www.help.k12.com/s/article/How-To-Track-Your-Course-Materials-and-Hardware-Shipments

🔸Denied a computer during enrollment? Apply for a laptop with LSOA with the button below.

  • Fill out 1 request per student enrolled with LSOA
  • Use the Monthly income when prompted
LSOA Computer Request Form (after K12 denial)

Applied for a laptop, what's next?

Approved for Laptop - Laptop has Shipped

  • 🚩Someone must be home to accept the laptop to the shipping address you provided.
  • 🚩Use the tracking number provided daily in order to be sure you have someone 18 years old or older at home when it arrives to provide a signature.
  • Laptops will not be left without a signature and are subject to be returned to sender if repeated attempts have no one home to provide a signature.

Check that your laptop or desktop has:

  • A webcam
  • A microphone
  • Working speakers
  • Working mouse
  • Working keyboard

If you qualified for a laptop, a printer will also be approved and shipped.

  • Printer will come with 1 black ink cartridge and no paper.
  • Printer paper and extra ink will be purchased by the Learning Coaches
  • Printers are not required to start school.

Laptop denied

  • Email LSOA Community Engagement Specialists so we can provide assistance.
  • All students need to have a back-up device plan in case of device issues or delay in laptop shipping. It is rare that attendance will be excused for missing devices. The back up device plan can be viewed here: https://secure.smore.com/n/m9rhq

Step 2: Internet & Browser Step 2: Internet & Browser

User uploaded image

Students need a laptop or computer that can use Google Chrome, have a internet connection, camera, and microphone. Phones, Tablets, Chromebooks, and similar devices are not recommended for daily use. They might work as a back up plan in an unplanned issue but not for regular or daily use.

School issued laptops should come with the recommended browsers. If the device you are using does not have Google Chrome, check out the links below to get started:

  • Download Chrome or Edge here: https://www.help.k12.com/s/article/Recommended-Browsers *Note: The online classroom will not work in Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer

Internet is required and not provide by the school. Need affordable internet? For more information and to check if you qualify go to www.getinternet.gov

Back-Up device & internet plan:

🚩All students need to have a back-up device & internet plan in case of device or internet issues. It is rare that attendance will be excused for missing devices, device issues, or internet issues. The back up device plan can be viewed here: https://secure.smore.com/n/m9rhq

Immediately save both account log in information some where safe and easy to remember.

Instructions are below

Step 1: You will need your Registration ID issued to you by Stride K12 via the email.

You will have received the email from Registration@k12.com with a "Registration ID". Please check your junk folder for this email as well. 🚩Cant find your Registration ID? Call or email your student's Registrar from the contact list above to retrieve it.

Step 2: First create the Learning Coach (LC) account: https://www.help.k12.com/s/article/How-to-Set-Up-Your-Learning-Coach-Student-Account-for-SY25-26#Create_The_Learning_Coach_Account 🚩Note: Please use an email that you check regularly. LSOA messages will come to your email that you used to create this account.

https://www.help.k12.com/s/article/How-to-Set-Up-Your-Learning-Coach-Student-Account-for-SY25-26#Create_the_Students_Account

🚩🚩Every single student needs a Student Account. A Student's daily attendance will not be counted without this account. A Student will use their own individual log in for the computer and online school to count the student's attendance.

Student's cannot complete classes or lessons in the LC account. They will be counted absent this way.

Step 4: Get familiar with the online school both for the LC Account and the Student account.

Family Income Form Family Income Form

Dear Parents & Learning Coaches,

Texas has funding based on need for additional academic support in schools. We need your help

to make sure all of our students are fully prepared for academic success by completing Federal

Income Forms in order to receive these funds.

There are three important reasons to fill out this form:

1. Interventionists: The state funds will be used to hire and train certified intervention teachers to

work with your student(s) in filling any previous learning gaps and to prepare them for their

current and future academic success.

2. Graduation Coaches: The state funds will be used to hire graduation coaches to help students

who are behind to cross the finish line and develop post high school goals.

3. Teacher Training: We want to provide more in-depth training for our entire staff in order to

best serve our students.

Please take a few minutes to fill out this form when emailed to you so that we can qualify for

additional state funding that will directly impact your student. Thank you for your continued

support of our school.

Sincerely,

Chaille Hymes

LSOA Executive Director
