Principal's Corner Principal's Corner

March is a short but busy month, with Spring Break just around the corner! We would like to thank all the parents who were able to attend the Student-Led Conferences/Parent-Teacher Interviews earlier this month. These meetings provide valuable opportunities to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher. Please continue to check PowerSchool for regular updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Last Friday, our Grade 4–9 students enjoyed our annual ski trip to Alliance. They had a fantastic day and were lucky to receive some fresh snow in the days leading up to the trip. A big thank you to all the parents who attended and assisted—we truly appreciate your help in making the day run smoothly!

Today is an exciting day for 18 of our students as they embark on their trip to Peru. Their tour, Land of the Incas, will take them on an unforgettable journey through the country. We wish them safe travels and look forward to welcoming them back on March 31st.

On April 3rd, our Grade 7–12 students will attend the Robb Nash Presentation at the Jubilee Auditorium. Robb shares a powerful and inspiring story, and we look forward to our secondary students experiencing it. A huge thank you to FFCS for supporting transportation to Edmonton. A reminder that students must arrive at school by 7:45 AM to catch the bus.

As we head into April, our Athletics program will shift its focus to badminton, with several tournaments scheduled throughout the month. Additionally, our Grade 1 and 3 students will begin their elementary swimming lessons on April 7th.

We kindly ask families to ensure that our elementary students are prepared for changing spring conditions on the playground. As the weather warms up, mud becomes an issue, so rubber boots will be essential. While we understand that students are eager to enjoy the warmer temperatures, we ask that they continue wearing long sleeves until temperatures reach double digits. This can be a coat or a long-sleeved sweater.

We wish all our families a wonderful Spring Break! We hope it’s a relaxing time for everyone, and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, March 31st.

Agriculture Field Trip Agriculture Field Trip

The Junior High Agriculture option class recently took a trip to visit Bryan and Laura Zwack at ZS Farms just outside of Daysland. The students learned about compost, aeration, bio material, and PIGS! The cycle that they have at the farm to reduce input costs and increase quality for their crops is very interesting, and we appreciate them sharing their farming knowledge with us. We also owe a big thanks to the Daysland Ag Society for paying for our bus out there, and to Brian Wolbeck for driving us there safely and adding such great questions to the conversation. It was a great day!
