Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Community,
January was a busy month, and not just because of the amount of snow we’ve had to deal with. We’ve had some great opportunities to get involved in the community and honor some special people.
We started the month with the Board Organizational Meeting and welcomed a new member to the Loveland City School District Board of Education. Katie Schuckman joined the Board, being sworn into office along with returning members Rev. Jonathan Eilert and Dr. Eric Schwetschenau. They join Lynn Mangan and Christina Jeranek, who are in the middle of their four-year terms. Thank you for serving our school district and community.
Last month, I was honored to speak at the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance's “State of the Region” luncheon. It was an opportunity to share great information about our district, and to hear from Loveland City Manager Dave Kennedy and Miami Township Administrator Steve Kelly about all the awesome things happening around the area.
The Loveland Athletic Hall of Fame also inducted three new members, who will join the wall of honor at Loveland High School:
Sidne (Mays) Gunn (2004) Track, Tennis, and Basketball standout.
Maggie Bailey (2017) Softball standout.
Jillian Hayes (2020) Basketball and Volleyball standout.
Congratulations to the Loveland Athletic Hall of Fame inductees for 2025!
If you want to honor some of our other outstanding people, you can attend the Loveland Schools Foundation Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Faculty Celebration. Details on that are below.
We’re fortunate to be part of an awesome and supportive community. If you have any questions about the Loveland City School District, please email me at mikebroadwater@lovelandschools.org.

Treasurer’s Message
Loveland Tiger Community,
As we move into the heart of the winter season, the Treasurer’s office is hard at work ensuring that the Loveland City School District remains on a solid financial footing. Our commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility remains our guiding principle as we manage your taxpayer dollars to provide the best possible education for our students.
This month, I want to highlight several key financial milestones and deep-dive into how we plan for the long-term health of our facilities. At our upcoming Board Business Meeting on February 17, 2026, I will be presenting an update to our Financial Forecast, formerly known as the Five-Year Forecast. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce requires us to file this officially twice a year (October and February), although we measure our revenues and expenditures to these forecasts every month as found in my presentations to the Board of Education. This February forecast update allows us to:
Incorporate actual revenue and expenditure data from the first half of the fiscal year.
Adjust projections based on the latest state funding updates.
Provide a clearer picture of our "Days Cash on Hand," which is a critical metric for our district’s stability.
We are officially in the development stage for the 2026-27 school year budget. This process is a massive collaborative effort between my office, the Superintendent, and our building principals/department leaders. Our goal is to align our spending with the district’s strategic vision while navigating the reality that expenditures that often outpace revenue growth. We are currently beginning the process where I meet with each building and department to maximize every dollar to support student achievement.
I can honestly say that I love my job and the work I do for Loveland City Schools. That said, many might not know about the tasks that my office completes on a daily basis. Check out my latest Finance Friday Video to learn a bit more about what the Treasurer’s office does to help support our entire school community. If you would like to receive an email each time a Finance Friday video is released, please sign up HERE.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Loveland City Schools, and if you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at espyjo@lovelandschools.org.
Go Tigers!

Complete the Community Survey
This year, we are continuing to listen to our community with the launch of our 2026 “Community Survey.” This quick online survey gives anyone in our community an opportunity to tell us how we are doing in reaching the goals of our #beLOVEland Strategic Vision: Student Success, Collaborative Culture, Community Engagement, and Fiscal Responsibility.
Please follow this link to our 2026 Community Survey. Share it with your friends and neighbors who may not receive this newsletter so that we can hear from as many people as possible. The survey should only take a few moments to complete. It includes open-ended questions so you can share your ideas, give us a pat on the back, or tell us how we can improve.
The survey, Town Halls, and our Community Advisory Team are all important parts of our work to stay connected to our community. Thank you to everyone who takes part.
