The Rideau ReportJanuary 2024

January 2024 Newsletter

Bonjour Rideau Families,

I would like to start this message with wishing everyone in the Rideau Community a Happy New Year. May this year bring joy, happiness and stability/security to you and the people around you. We all know that times have been difficult and we need some brightness in our lives, therefore some positive thinking can only help!

There was a limited interest in milk for January. As this might have been due to missing the deadline in December with everything going on, I am opening a second order form for January that would start next week. You will have to order before the end of day this Wednesday. Please do not order again if you had already done so in December.

Pizza orders are up for now until March break and orders close on Tuesdays (for instance, you have until tomorrow, end of day to order pizza for next week). This is the only Fundraiser the school (not Parent Council) is doing during the year and the money raise helps subsidize field trips, purchase items for students and pay for technology repair or replacement.

Please note that on January 25, Tallack's Martial Arts will visit the students to introduce the in-school karate program for kids. The information sheet about the registration process and fees will go home with children on that day. The program will start on February 1 and will take place during second recess.

Did you know there is Tennis offered at the School on Saturdays? Please see the information below for more detail.

Our next Parent Council meeting is Thursday January 11 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will only be in person unless I receive a request to host it online as well. The last two meetings had no online participants.

Grade 6 pictures (also known as grad pictures) will be on Tuesday March 19, starting in the morning. With the number of grade 6 students we have, this will take at least all morning. More detail to come as we get closer to the date.

Extracurricular activities will resume this week. We have the Rideau Tribune, Chess, and Lego Robotics, just to name a few. A huge thank you to the staff and parents who are facilitating these activities.
