Library Class

Students are back in the library and checking out books! Sixth graders are listening to me read The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger, a novel about friendship, fitting in and The Force in middle school. 5th graders have enjoyed the picture book Don’t Trust Fish by Neil Sharpson (ask your student why we should NOT trust fish!). We are all enjoying the relaxing experience of listening to a read aloud!

Volunteers Needed

I need a volunteer to help repair books! Can you come into the library a few hours a week to repair books? There is no set schedule and I will provide the supplies and instruction. Being somewhat skilled at crafts may be useful. At this time I have 28 books waiting to be repaired before they can go back into circulation! Request for Book Donations

I have 1-2 copies of each book in many popular series. These books are often more than 350 pages long which takes some students more time to finish than others. So that students don’t have to wait to read the next book in the series, I am looking for ANY hardback or paperback book in the following series:

Michael Vey 1-10 (in high demand)

Wings of Fire 1-16 (in high demand) *novels, not graphic novels

Hunger Games 1-3, (in high demand)

Harry Potter 1-7

Land of Stories 1-6

Keeper of the Lost Cities 1-9

One and Only Ivan 1-4

Spy School 1-13,

Dragonwatch #5 ONLY

Do you have any of these books at home, in used but readable condition, that your family is no longer using? Send them to school with your student and they will get to choose a fun bookmark for each book donated!

Your student will be bringing home an OPT-IN form for maturation day on September 24th. If you would like your student to participate please sign it and return it by next week.

For students who are not participating in Maturation Day, we have some alternative options planned! They will go to the library where they can choose to work on Cursive, enjoy some Reading time, or practice on IXL. Families are also welcome to pick their student up early if they prefer. Maturation Day groups will begin at 9:00am.
