Parent Newsletter - October 23, 2025
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Young Elementary Families,
Next week is Red Ribbon Week, and we are so excited about all the fun activities we have planned! This is always a wonderful opportunity to promote healthy choices and positive lifestyles. Throughout the week, students will enjoy themed dress-up days and special guest speakers who will share important messages about making safe and responsible decisions.
We also had an incredible time at our annual Fun Run! A huge thank-you to Coach Holly, Coach Burkart, and the rest of our rotation teachers for putting on such a fantastic event. The students had a blast running and cheering each other on, and it was wonderful to see so many parents out there supporting and even running alongside their children. Your enthusiasm and encouragement made the day extra special for our students!
As we approach the end of the month, I’d like to encourage you to take a moment to recognize one of our amazing staff members by filling out the YES Award form. This is your chance to celebrate a teacher or staff member who has made a meaningful impact on your child’s life. Your words of appreciation truly make a difference!
I also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our PTO for organizing our Fall Festival. It wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our parents and staff who give so much of their time and energy to make our school community so special.
Finally, when you stop by the front office, you may notice an exciting new addition — a large TV display showcasing all the amazing things happening at Young Elementary! A huge thank-you to Dr. Richard Pietila for his generous donation, which allows us to celebrate and highlight our students’ accomplishments for all to see.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in helping our students learn and grow. We have so much to be proud of here at Young, and it’s all because of the strong sense of community we share.
With Eagle Pride,
Andrew Hohman

Shoes That Fit Fundraiser
A message from Coach Harrison!
Help us ensure every child comes to school with confidence and comfort! Many students in our community lack properly fitting shoes, which impacts their ability to learn, play, and thrive. By supporting our Shoes That Fit Fundraiser, you’ll provide new, well-fitting shoes to children who need them most. Together, we can make sure no child is held back by something as simple as shoes.
Every dollar makes a difference—thank you for helping us change lives, one pair at a time!

Counselor's Corner
Character Trait of the Month
In Counseling Lessons This Week...
This week we are talking compassion and kindness to ourselves and others! I can’t wait to hear all the wonderful ideas our Youngsters come up with!
PreK: We will read “Try A Little Kindness” to learn all about the different ways we can show kindness to others! Then we will complete a kind vs. unkind actions sorting activity.
Kinder: We will read “I Like Myself” and discuss all the wonderful and unique characteristics we have that make us who we are! We will also practice positive self-talk by completing a positive affirmations picture.
1st Grade: We will read “The Jelly Donut Difference” and discuss how to show care and compassion toward others.
2nd Grade: We will read “Tiny Drops of Kindness” and come up with different ways we can show caring and kindness to others.
