Tiger Talk
02/10/26

Happy Valentine's Day, Tigers!
Good evening, Tiger Families,
What a fun and joyful week it has been at West Cypress Hills! With Valentine’s Day parties happening tomorrow, our campus is filled with excitement, smiles, and lots of Tiger love. Please be sure to review the party schedules below so you know when and where to join the fun.
Our Sweetheart Dance Masquerade Ball was a huge success, and we are so grateful to our PTO and families for making it such a special evening. Be sure to check out the photos—our Tigers truly shined!
As a reminder, by tomorrow all teachers will have sent home middle-of-year assessment information for IXL, mCLASS, and STAAR Interims. If you have any questions or would like to talk through your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. They are always happy to partner with you and set up a time to connect.
With staff professional development days and a holiday ahead, we hope your family enjoys a restful and joyful extended weekend. We look forward to welcoming our Tigers back to school on Tuesday, February 17.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we grow together—from Growth to Greatness—driven by pride, strengthened by resilience, and led with heart.
With gratitude,
Ms. Amy Russ

Attention LTISD Parents and Guardians,
The Discovery Program, otherwise known as Gifted and Talented, is now accepting parent referrals for KINDERGARTEN G/T Screening via this Google form.
The Elementary Discovery Program is a cross-curricular thematic-based pullout program for students in grades K-5. Participating students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment. To be identified as gifted and talented, each student must undergo a screening and selection process. Assessment opportunities are made available once per school year.
If you feel your child is a good candidate for the G/T screening process, please fill out the link below. The deadline to register is March 12 at 3 pm. More information about the program can be found on the Lake Travis ISD Gifted & Talented website.
Referral link for Kinder students only - deadline March 12, 2026 @ 3:00 PM.

The clinics will be offered at each elementary school as follows:
- Bee Cave Elementary / West Cypress Hills Elementary - Feb. 23
- Lake Travis Elementary / Lakeway Elementary - Feb. 24
- Rough Hollow Elementary / Serene Hills Elementary - Feb. 25
- Lake Pointe Elementary - Feb. 26
A signed permission form—which elementary students will receive soon—is required for services.
Personalization options available for purchase, too.

School Library Advisory Council
In response to Senate Bill 13, our Board of Trustees has established the Lake Travis ISD School Library Advisory Council (SLAC.) The purpose of the SLAC is to formalize a collaborative process between librarians, parents, and community members in the ongoing development of strong library collections that support student achievement and meet state standards. This process helps ensure transparency, parent involvement, and a strong library program that strengthens student achievement while nurturing a lifelong appreciation, habit, and love of reading.
The SLAC works with librarians and district staff to develop a recommended list of library materials for procurement, including donated titles. At least 30 days before the Board’s vote, the proposed procurement list will be made publicly available for parents and community members to review and provide feedback. The Board will review these recommendations, consider any proposed changes, and make the final decision to approve or reject the materials. The SLAC will also recommend procedures for handling challenges to library materials and review challenges according to law before making recommendations to the Board.
Visit the SLAC webpage to access the Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List, Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List Feedback Form, and the Library Materials Challenge Form.
For questions or additional information regarding SLAC reviews or library material challenges, please contact Tasha Barker at watersbarkert@ltisdschools.org, or at 512-533-6036.
Contact Coach Williams or Coach Mayes to share the good news about new shoe-tying talents!
