Middleton UpdateSeptember 13, 2024

Dear Middleton Families, Dear Middleton Families,

We are so excited to have all of our Middleton families in the building in a little under two weeks for our Back to School Night. All of the details are below. This is an open house style and the whole family is invited to attend. You will start in your child's classroom(s) where you will receive a Bingo sheet. There will be some things to check out in the classroom. If you have additional children, you can go to their classrooms as well. After that, some Bingo squares can be completed as a family around the school. These items will be the same on all Bingo sheets. See below for more details. We look forward to seeing you!

Happy Weekend!

  • Who: All Middleton families are invited
  • When: September 26th from 5:30-7:00
  • What: Back to School Night in a new format! Instead of formal presentations, this year's Back-to-School Night will be an Open House Style. Start in your child's classroom where you will receive a Bingo Card. You will have a chance to:
    • Visit your child's classroom, as well as all of the areas where they learn.
    • See some of your child's work.
    • Meet many of the adults who work in our school.
    • Share a treat on the playground.
    • Learn about what your child will be learning this year.
  • Please Note: With so many families visiting each classroom in just an hour-and-a-half, this will not be a time for teachers to talk to each family about student progress. Time will be provided for these conversations during conferences at the end of October.

Crossing Sunset Crossing Sunset

The safety of our students is important to us, and it has been brought to our attention that some Middleton students are crossing Sunset at the Sunset/Woodhaven intersection rather than using the crosswalk at the Sunset/Timbrel intersection where we have crossing guards. If your child walks home and crosses Sunset, please verify with them that they cross at Timbrel with the crossing guards. While we realize this means some students may have to walk a bit further, we have two adults stationed here to keep our kids safe. Thank you!

Nutrition Services Partners with Local Farms Nutrition Services Partners with Local Farms

Nutrition Services is partnering with Hood River Organics and Our Table Cooperative to provide students with fresh, organic produce during Oregonโ€™s harvest season! Our salad bars will feature locally-sourced apples, cucumbers, blueberries, cherry tomatoes, Italian prune plums, and strawberries. Our Farm-to-School partnerships and grant funding allow us to continue offering students healthy, delicious options while supporting local small businesses. Weโ€™re thrilled to bring these fresh flavors straight from Oregon farms to your childโ€™s plate!

Character Trait of the Month: Friendliness Character Trait of the Month: Friendliness

zoom_out_map

Each month at Middleton, we focus on one character traith. This month that trait is friendliness! Friendliness is defined as showing kind interest and goodwill. Those who are friendly are cheerful, comforting and approachable. To extend learning from school to home, we encourage you to talk about this character trait with your child(ren). Some good questions to encourage discussion are:

  • Why is being friendly important?
  • Can you think of a time someone was friendly to you? When was that? What did they say or do?
  • How can you show others you are friendly?
