Saint Peter School Newsletter
January 30th, 2026
Picture of the week: Seargent Major (ret.) Thomas Payne, SPS school parent, was awarded the Medal of Honor (our nations highest honor for valor) by Congress and the President in 2020 for valorous action taken during 2015, saving the lives of around 75 people. He came to speak to our students on Wednesday during our "Celebrate our Nation" day of Catholic Schools Week. We want to thank Major Payne for coming to speak with our students and for giving them this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

We have a great international school body that we want to celebrate!!
Calling for families to show us their heritage at a potluck dinner.
You may decorate your table any way you like, some examples: media, photos, games, food, crafts. Interactive tables are very popular. We will provide passports for the kids and country stickers for each table to handout, along with country facts to discuss with table representatives, a scavenger hunt and a large map for kids to tac where they are from. Join us for an amazing night as we tour around the world. All are welcome, even if you don’t host a table!

Obituary and Funeral Information for Mary Jane Songer (Ms. Songer's Late Mother)
As many of you know, last week Ms. Songer's mother, Mary Jane Songer, passed away peacefully at her family home. Mary Jane Songer was a Saint Peter School graduate (Class of 1947), became a teacher and served in both public and private schools, and was very proud that her daughter works at SPS! We are heartbroken for Ms. Songer, and she and her family are in our prayers; our Thursday Mass intention next week will be for Ms. Songer and for her mother's soul.
Ms. Songer asked that we share the following information with the community about her mother and about the funeral arrangements. Please consider supporting Ms. Songer during this time!
