PTO Spotlight - Walk-a-Thon | Smore Newsletters for Education

This PTO newsletter is separate from the Thornapple administration newsletter, Applebites.

Walkathon is May 14 at 1:00pm. Every student will make a sign that will be displayed through the neighborhood around Thornapple. Students and volunteers will walk with their grade level to see the signs.

We need lots of help. There are multiple ways you can help.

Popsicle Helpers
Picture Takers
Music Players

Siblings are welcome, however please leave pets at home.

If you are interested in joining the PTO board, please send us an email at thornappleptoshare@gmail.com. All board positions are up for re-election this year and will be voted in during our general meeting on May 27th.

Roles may be co-appointed to spread the responsibilities and allow for a training year. Bring a friend and learn how we give back to Thornapple Elementary with our community resources.

Check in helpers - Help with morning and/or afternoon check-ins.
Activity station leads - There are 10. Please expect to remain at your station for your volunteer time and not move along with your child's class.
Popsicle passers - Arrive no later than 3p.m. to pass out popsicles to students.

Morning Session: Gray, Fowler, Strange, Jarksi, Morin, Clegg, Ora, Olsen, Giuliana. Check in at 8:45am for a 9:00am start.

Afternoon Session: Peterson, Ebels, Gustafson, Verberkmoes, Hughes, Nienhouse, Ora, Olsen, Neumaier, and Beverly. Check in at 12:30pm for a 12:45pm start.

IMPORTANT: You must have an FHPS volunteer form on file for this year.

Complete the form well before the event to participate as a volunteer.

Please confirm this requirement has been met with the front office prior to the event.

May 7 - Potluck lunch - Parents are asked to donate meal items for a teacher and staff potluck.
May 8 - Coffee and dessert bar - The PTO will set up a coffee and dessert bar for teachers and staff to enjoy throughout the day. Parents are asked to help donate contributions.
May 10-16 - Pizza and books fundraiser - Schuler's and Little Caesars - Watch for details.
May 13 - PTO Monthly meeting, 5:45p.m. in Thornapple media center.

May 19 - Fourth grade field trip to John Ball Zoo
May 20 - Fourth grade field trip to Boulder Ridge

May 27 - General PTO Meeting, 6p.m in Thornapple media center. This meeting is open to all parents and teachers. Learn what's planned for next school year and vote in board members.
