MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MR. STEVE GENTHER, SHS SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER
Mr. Steve Genther is in his 21st year teaching in Strongsville. Mr. Genther worked for four years at Center Middle School and has now been a Social Studies teacher at Strongsville High School for 17 years. He earned his undergraduate degree from Baldwin Wallace University and a graduate degree from Ashland University.
“The best part of my day is working with and interacting with my students. It's a privilege that I don't take for granted. I get to be able to instruct my students in the curriculum that I have a passion for (Psychology and Sociology). But, that's just part of being a teacher. I get a chance to be a role model and positive influence to each and every student I interact with on a daily basis. I get to laugh and joke with my students. I get to give and share compassion, grace, and understanding to my students. My hope is that each day when I enter my building, that my excitement, passion, patience, grace, and understanding can have an influence on any student that I teach, that observes me, or that I interact with. We, as teachers, take ownership of our students. We care about them both as students and as young adults that are facing the ups and downs that life throws at them during adolescence. I try to remind myself daily, that I'm blessed with an opportunity that many need and don't have. We, as teachers, also have an opportunity to influence a generation of young adults. For that reason, I am driven and motivated to be an energetic, fun, informative, and positive influence in students' lives each and every day.”
Thank you Mr. Genther for your positive energy and for the daily impact you have on your students! #ModelMustang
