North Olmsted Families and Community,
The month of January serves as the halfway point of a school year. It’s hard to believe that I’m already halfway through my first school year as Superintendent. My excitement to lead NOCS is as strong as it was on day one. As I always say, our community is a special place filled with Eagle Pride.
When I became Superintendent, I knew immediately that I wanted to gather feedback from our North Olmsted Community. In the process of gathering feedback, my goal was to hear from a variety of stakeholders such as our families, staff, students and members of our North Olmsted Community that do not have students in the school district. All of those voices provide different perspectives and play a vital role in our success as a school district now, and in the future. There were three main questions I wanted to get feedback on.
What are you most proud of in our school community?
What are the biggest challenges we face as a school community right now?
What do we need to do to ensure our students are future ready?
Throughout the first half of this school year, I spent time attending PTA meetings, scheduling time in our buildings to engage with staff members, and visiting different community groups to gather and hear responses to these questions. This process has been fun and informative. I have enjoyed interacting with many different people and hearing their perspectives related to education and our school community.
For those of you we did not hear from, we wanted to provide another opportunity. Below is a link to a survey with these three questions. We invite you to complete this survey and share your thoughts and opinions with us. In addition, we encourage you to share this survey with your neighbor, or friend so that we may also hear their feedback.
We also plan to hear from our students. Over the next month, we will be asking our students in grades 4-12 to complete this survey at school. Our students have a lot of thoughts and opinions and I’m looking forward to hearing what they think. If you have a student in the district, they might mention this survey in the coming weeks.
This survey will be available through February 17th. Results of this survey will be added to the feedback that has already been collected. The feedback will help provide direction for the district for future years.
