Mustang Memo
April 2026
Here's what's happening at East Meadows....
It was great to see everyone at our final SEP Conference and Book Fair. Thank you for coming!
It's our favorite month of the year as we celebrate Literacy Week and participate in the Fiesta Days Rodeo Reading Challenge. Students are challenged to read every day and record their daily minutes on a calendar they will be turning in. Students who participate will be eligible to win tickets to the rodeo along with free boots, hat, jeans and more!
Throughout the month of April, we will be encouraging students to get a good nights sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and arrive at school on time each day so they will be ready for testing which begins after Spring Break. Our students have worked hard and we are excited for them to show what they know.
Spring Break is coming up April 6th - 10th. Check out the rest of this newsletter to get information about our Books and Buddies Event, upcoming track meets and more!

Literacy Month - Ride the Wave
READ, READ, READ!
A SPRING BREAK READING CHALLENGE will be coming home with your child this week. Students who complete the challenge can turn in their paper in exchange it for a treat at the front office after Spring Break. .
Throughout the rest of the month, students should records ALL of their minutes on their reading calendar, due the last week of March.
We encourage parents and families to enjoy a fun month reading with your child. You could read a novel together as a family or find fun ways to promote reading. For example, read outside with a pillow, blanket and snack. Build an indoor fort or tent and read by flashlight. Listen to and follow along with a novel during a road trip.
The class with the highest reading minutes will earn a very special reward to be announced at a later date.
Join us for fun dress up days at the end of the month!
