Heights Hallway Happenings
Welcome Back to School
Principally Speaking....
Dear Elementary Families,
I hope you are having a wonderful start to the school year. I’m excited to welcome you and your children as we begin September together. Our focus this month is on building strong routines, creating a safe and supportive learning community, and helping every student feel confident and ready to learn.
What to Expect This Month
- Classroom routines and expectations: Students will review how we start the day, move between activities, and care for our learning spaces.
- Learning goals and habits: We will practice being prepared, using time wisely, and doing our best work.
- Community connections: Our school will continue building kindness, respect, and responsibility—every day, in every classroom.
Important Reminders Please help us by:
- Making sure your child arrives on time and is ready to learn.
- Reviewing classroom communications (including newsletters, emails, and messages sent home).
- Supporting homework/reading routines at home—even a short, consistent time makes a difference.
- Staying connected: If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the office.
Family Support & Communication:
We want home and school to work as partners. If you ever have a question, need clarification, or would like to share information that may affect your child’s learning, please contact us. The best communication helps students feel supported both at school and at home.
September is a great time to get grounded in the year’s learning routines. Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership. I’m grateful to work with you and to welcome your children to school each day.
Warmly,
Lisa M. Farrell
NEW STAFF...
New Faces.... New Places
Heights is very fortunate that we have several new staff members. We would like to welcome all our new Instructional Assistants who support our students. We would also like to welcome Rose Ivory, our newest teacher in the SOAR program. Ms. Gabby McMahon is a new teacher in our Learning Center, she was a 5th grade teacher at Heights last year. Ms. Maddie Moquin is our new kindergarten teacher, Maddie has also been at Heights for a few years, we are so glad that she is joining the kindergarten team.
Mrs. Laura Ramos is our new Special Education Administrator - we welcome her to the Heights Family.
Hello Heights Team!
I am so excited to introduce myself and to begin this new journey with all of you! My career in education has included many different roles, including serving as a Special Education Teacher, Special Education Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Each of these experiences has shaped my leadership philosophy and strengthened my belief in the power of relationships, collaboration, and creating inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive.
At the heart of everything I do is my passion and love for students. I am especially passionate about instructional leadership, inclusive practices, and mentorship. I believe that when we support and empower one another as educators, we create stronger schools and better opportunities for our students.
Outside of school, I am a proud mom to two amazing kids—Stella, who is 10, and Mason, who is 15. Our family is always on the go, and I proudly wear many hats as a hockey mom, baseball mom, softball mom, and dance mom! When I’m not at a rink, field, or dance studio, I love traveling, spending time at the beach, and shopping.
I am truly happy to be a part of the Heights family. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead! I can’t wait to see all that we accomplish together!
Go Heights!
Laura

Staying Connected This School Year
As many of you know, the Heights PTO has been planning on launching a new app to help our community stay connected, Honeycomb Labs. Thank you to everyone who helped us pilot this app. We are sad to learn that they are closing down operations this December.
While we’re sad to see it go, we’re grateful for the friendships, connections, and sense of community it helped create among our families. Most importantly, we want to keep that spirit of connection going! Please make sure your family stays connected with our school community by signing up for Membership Toolkit, where you’ll find important PTO updates, information, and opportunities to get involved. Join our PTO community—membership is free! Sign up through: https://heightsespto.membershiptoolkit.com/home. If you have an existing account, please sign in to update your child(ren)'s information for this school year.
If you have an app recommendation to improve our community's connection, please email your recommendation or share it at the PTO public meetings.
