Dove Creek Schools Weekly Update
🐾 September 28 - October 3, 2026 🐾
⭐ Homecoming Week ⭐
🌎 Around the World - But There’s No Place Like HOCO! 🌎
Homecoming Week is here! This is always a special week for our students, staff, families, alumni, and community. This year’s theme is “Around the World — But There’s No Place Like HOCO!”
There is a lot happening this week, and we hope our families and community members will join us! You do not have to have a student participating in an activity to come celebrate with us. We especially invite you to join us for Thursday’s Pep Assembly and Homecoming Parade and to come out and support our Bulldogs at our athletic events throughout the week.
A huge amount of work goes into Homecoming Week, and we are excited to see our students and community come together to celebrate!

📣 Families & Community — Join Us Thursday!
Thursday is going to be a big day at Dove Creek Schools, and we would love to see our families and community come celebrate Homecoming with us!
Our Homecoming Pep Assembly begins at 1:30 p.m. Come help us fill the gym with Bulldog spirit as we celebrate our students, activities, and teams!
Following the pep assembly, students will put the finishing touches on their floats. Then it is time for one of our favorite Homecoming traditions. The Homecoming Parade begins at 3:00 p.m. We invite parents, families, alumni, businesses, and community members to find a spot along the parade route and help us celebrate our Bulldogs!
Thursday evening, the fun continues with Powder Puff Football at 7:00 p.m. and our traditional
Bonfire at 8:15 p.m.

🎉 Thank You, Student Council!
A very big shoutout goes to Ms. Janesse Garcia and our Student Council!
Homecoming doesn’t just happen. There are countless details, decorations, schedules, activities, and hours of preparation that go into creating a fun week for all of us.
Thank you to Ms. Garcia and our Student Council students for all of the work and effort you have put into making Homecoming special for our students, staff, families, and community!
⭐ Bulldog Shoutouts — One District, One Team!
📚 Learning Something New
A big shoutout goes to Ms. Shellie Russell, Ms. Becky Short, and Ms. Amber Hickman for their patience and persistence as we learn a new program we are utilizing for interventions in the middle school.
They have been troopers as we work through the program step by step! Learning something new takes time, patience, and a willingness to keep working at it. We appreciate all three of them for doing just that, and we look forward to continuing to grow in how we support our students.
🛠️ Our Maintenance Crew Saved the Gym Floor!
A HUGE thank-you to our maintenance crew!
During our recent hailstorm, hail plugged the drains on our roof, causing water to back up and flood into the gym. Our maintenance crew jumped into action and saved our gym floor!
Thanks to their quick response and hard work, the floor is good to go.
There are so many things our maintenance staff does behind the scenes to take care of our buildings and grounds, and this was certainly a big one. Thank you!
🥣 From One Building to Another
We also had a wonderful example of One District — One Team this week.
Our elementary staff provided a soup and salad luncheon for our high school staff. There wasn’t a special occasion or a complicated reason behind it. They simply wanted to say:
“Hey, we see you working hard. We see you doing good things. Thank you!”
What a great way for one building to show appreciation for another.
We may serve different ages and work in different buildings, but we are all part of the same team working for the students of Dove Creek Schools.
What a great day to be a Bulldog!
🐾 Teamwork - the HOCO way!🐾
There probably isn’t a better week than Homecoming to put our September Bulldog Way focus of Teamwork into action.
Whether you are building a float, playing in a game, participating in a dress-up day, cheering from the stands, cleaning up after an event, welcoming community members, or simply encouraging someone else, everyone has a role on our team.
This week’s Homecoming Teamwork Challenge:
Include others, support your classmates, and help make Homecoming fun for everyone. A great team makes sure everyone feels like they belong.
We hope to see parents, families, alumni, and community members at our Pep Assembly, along the parade route, and in the stands supporting our Bulldogs this week.
