Region 10 Educational Service Center

Last year, we had a trial run of our 1st LSSP Professional Learning Community (PLC) for Region 10. We had some great success and learned a lot in the process. The participants from last year agreed that PLC was a valuable opportunity to engage and collaborate with other LSSPs, especially those that do not have access to other LSSPs at their site.

In an effort to continue this process, we are looking to gauge interest in having an LSSP PLC for the 2019-20 school year. The format would largely consist of monthly scheduled meetings throughout the school year. These meetings will take place online (via Zoom Meetings) and last for approximately 1 hour. The PLC would cover a few brief updates, then be an open forum to discuss current issues of the members related to the practice of psychology. PLC members would be expected to share thoughts about current practices and engage in thoughtful dialogue to help improve the practice of all.

Does your district or charter school have new diags or LSSPs for the 2019-20 school year? Are they a new evaluator or new to Texas? Have them come check out our New Eval Staff Training on 8/2/2019.

Region 10 will be hosting an Interagency Meet and Greet event on August 27th. This event will provide a great opportunity for area community support service agencies and organizations to share resource information, access process and contact information. Knowing about the assortment of community resources available to families is a valuable commodity LSSPs.

Dallas ISD is opening up a special sessions for Region 10 area evaluators at their Summer Evaluation Institute.

The session will take place on August 8th from 1:30-4:30 at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Dallas. Speakers include Dr. Mei Chang from the University of North Texas, who will speak on the "Impact of Executive Function on Academic Achievement", and Ms. Cherry Lee from TEA, who will speak on dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

One of my biggest goals of GSP is to get information about our LSSPs. I know your time is valuable and I don't want to ask you to spend half a day filling out tons of information, so I have settled on what I am calling the Two-ish Question Quiz. Every so often, I humbly ask for you to answer two questions about yourself to help us get a better picture of the LSSPs in Region 10.
