The parade is at 5:00 pm and we'll gather around 4:30 pm for our all school lantern walk! We'll be in front of the library, just after Wheelhouse Motion Pictures and before Ashland Dance Works. Everyone is invited!
This year we'd love to be musical and will be singing some of our lantern walk songs. Click on the link to hear them.
We are excited to see you at our all-school Winter Assembly. At Winter Assembly grades 1 through 8 will bring presentations of music, verse, and movement. The evening ends with the whole community singing together. All students are expected to attend and to come dressed in their best for this celebration.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- Where is it? Thanks to the generous contributions from some in our community, we are able to hold our assembly at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Angus Bowmer Theatre in downtown Ashland at 20 E Main St, Ashland, OR 97520.
- When is it? The program starts at 6:00 p.m. and is generally an hour and a half. Seating will begin around 5:45.
- Who is involved? Students from grades 1 through 8 with the help of our dedicated faculty and staff. Our kindergarten is not performing this evening and may sit with their parents. This year, because of our location, we're able to welcome friends and family to be in our audience.
Look for more details to come!

Warm and Waterproof Layers, Please!
As we move into colder weather please make sure your child is bringing appropriate layers to school. Outdoor recess happens rain or shine and ‘indoor recess’ is only called for on the rainiest of days.
The students need a waterproof coat and a hat. The hat can be a winter hat, waterproof hood, or baseball cap with a hood over it. We are trying to keep their bottom layer and heads dry. If they do not have waterproof layers or head covering they are sent to play under cover in front of the classroom. Gloves are a bonus!
Family Enrichment - Evening Talk With Tom Shelstad
On Tuesday, December 2nd, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, join us for an evening workshop called “Staying Connected Through the Teenage Years”, hosted by Tom Shelstad, co-founder of Inner Guide Expeditions. Tom will talk and guide families in discussion around supportive communication and connection with their kids in their teen years.
Star Class - 2nd Grade
The Star Class is doing wonderful work in the classroom. We are finishing a Fables Block. We learned about the Tortoise and the Hare (slow and steady wins the race), about the Grasshopper and the Ants (don’t put off for tomorrow what you should do today), The North Wind and the Sun (gentle persuasion succeeds where force fails), and many more. We heard the stories, we made little plays out of them, we drew and we wrote many sentences into our books and appreciated all the good lessons.
In math we are learning our subtraction facts; we are reading, spelling, learning to do creative writing, and we are singing and reciting together. All in all, we are doing well and we look forward to all the wonderful things that will come to our classroom in the month of December.
All the children enjoyed Winter Faire so very much. Today in Main Lesson we shared what our favorite activities were and then we drew our own creative drawings into our main lesson books. See pictures below.
We wish everyone a warm and connective Thanksgiving and a restful little break.
With warmth,
Mrs. McNamara
Raven Class - 7th Grade
As we wrap up our Africa block, the students are hard at work putting the finishing touches on their slideshows, studying for their block test, and completing their country reports.
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing a few presentations already, and they have been absolutely wonderful! What strikes me most is how each child brings their own unique perspective and creativity to their work. Some students have shared music from their chosen countries, others have brought in food to help us experience different cultures, and all of them have poured themselves into these projects in meaningful ways.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I find myself particularly grateful to be teaching this group of students. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and individuality make every day in the classroom a surprise.
Thank you for your continued support as we finish strong!
Miss Glover

Middle School Parents -- Hola, I'm Profe Cohen, a parent (2nd, 5th,6th, & 8th) and I'm the Spanish teacher at Madrone Trail Charter. I am leading a Middle School Spanish Immersion Trip this summer to Peru (Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu) with EF Tours to experience ancient Incan history and give the students a chance to be in an all Spanish & Latin American culture reality. This is an amazing opportunity to open their eyes up to other cultures. This trip is open to 6th-8th graders (and their parents who would like to join--parental accompaniment NOT mandatory). My goal is to create an interconnectedness to the world and its peoples and fuel their passion to learn other languages! If you are interested in registering, please click on the link for more trip info, fees, etc. http://www.eftours.com/2968879NZ
If I get enough parent interest, I will host an info meeting next week. Please confirm interest at ruth.cohen@madronetrail.org. I can't think of a more epic mother-son/daughter, father-daughter/son trip than Peru & Machu Picchu!
