A New School Year at JCISD
As we begin a new school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of our students, families, staff, and community members. Whether you are returning to JCISD or joining us for the first time, we are excited to have you as part of the Eagle family.
The start of a new school year brings fresh opportunities, new relationships, and a chance for each of us to grow. It's a time filled with hope and optimism as we look ahead to all that can be accomplished together. Every student who walks through our doors deserves an outstanding educational experience, and our staff is committed to creating classrooms where students are challenged, supported, and inspired every day.
This year, we will continue building on the strong traditions that make Johnson City ISD special while embracing new opportunities to improve and grow. Success is built through strong partnerships between our schools, families, and community, and I am grateful for the support you provide our students and staff throughout the year.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and for being a part of the JCISD family. We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, achievement, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Let's make the 2026–2027 school year our best one yet.

December 9th Designated as Student Holiday
Johnson City ISD is proud to host this year’s UIL District Academic Meets at LBJ Middle School and LBJ Elementary. To provide the best possible environment for our students and visiting competitors, Wednesday, December 9th, will be a student holiday. This will allow our campuses and staff to focus on facilitating the events, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting participants throughout the day.
Summer Improvements Across JCISD Campuses
Johnson City ISD was busy this summer completing several projects across the district to improve our campuses and facilities for students and staff.
At the elementary and high school campuses, common areas received fresh paint to give the buildings an updated look. The elementary office was also redesigned to create a more welcoming and functional space for families, students, and staff.
Other projects included an extension of the Ag Shop roof to provide additional covered space, new landscaping around the Middle School, and new lighting in the gym.
Work also began on the Honor Garden, which will provide a special space on the High School Campus for students and staff to enjoy.
These projects are part of our continued effort to take care of our facilities and provide schools that our students, staff, and community can be proud of.
2026-2027 District Convocation
On August 7th, Johnson City ISD employees gathered for the annual Back-to-School Convocation to celebrate the beginning of the 2026–2027 school year. The morning provided an opportunity for staff from across the district to reconnect, enjoy some time together, and prepare for another year of serving JCISD students.
Guest speaker Dr. Jim Van Allan shared a message based on The Energy Bus for Schools, focusing on the importance of a positive attitude, strong relationships, and creating a school culture where both students and staff can be successful.
The event also highlighted the important role every JCISD employee plays in the success of students. Teachers, administrators, support staff, and volunteers all contribute to making Johnson City ISD a special place to learn and work.
The convocation provided a positive start to the new school year and set the stage for a 2026–2027 school year filled with learning, growth, and plenty of reasons to celebrate.
